Anime Data Insight Lab, an agency subsidiary of the Bushiroad Group, has released a report analyzing trends in attention for winter 2025 anime. Based on search volume data from Google Trends, the report visualizes the attention of 57 works from the first 10 weeks of broadcast, revealing trends in works that have captured audience interest.

The one that maintained the most attention was “Medalist,” which increased with each episode.

The results of this analysis showed that “Medalist” maintained the most attention. It recorded a 155.6% increase compared to the first week, and its popularity increased with each broadcast. The show was based on a popular original work, so it attracted much attention even before it was broadcast. On social media, comments such as “it made me cry” and “it was moving” spontaneously spread, creating a virtuous cycle of further interest among viewers through word of mouth.

In addition, from immediately after the broadcast to the middle of the show, there were many promotional opportunities such as exposure at events such as the “Sapporo Snow Festival,” the hit theme song by Kenshi Yonezu, and a collaboration music video with Yuzuru Hanyu for the theme song, which contributed to publicizing the show.

The analysis report pointed out that the keys to its success were “the provision of clear ‘highlights’ every week” and “the measures to liven things up from the middle of the show onwards.” Also, on the ranking, “SAKAMOTO DAYS” peaked at 221.6% in the second week and maintained a high level of 116.2% in the 10th week. Both were rare success stories in which new anime continued to attract attention beyond the initial period.
On the other hand, for the latest anime in the winter 2025 season, the attention retention rate was high at 88.8% in the second week, but by the 10th week, it had dropped to 33.5%. This was the lowest level compared to each season in 2024, and it became clear that viewers are becoming more critical.

The initial period of “The Villainess Reincarnated Uncle” was intense, but as the broadcast progressed, the attention gradually decreased, dropping to 43.3% by the 10th week. On the other hand, sequel anime has attracted relatively stable attention, with “100 Kano”, “Only I Level Up,” and “Dr. Stone” recording high retention rates even in the 10th week. In particular, “100 Kano” became more popular in the second half and increased its number of viewers.
