Rakuten PLAY, a streaming guide service provided by Rakuten Group Inc., has released the results of its “Content Overall Ranking,” a quantitative survey of video content conducted from Monday, August 4th to Sunday, August 10th.
This week’s #1 ranking was “Dandadan Season 2,” marking its second consecutive week at the top. In second place was “Detective Conan,” in third place was “Wednesday Downtown,” and in fourth place was “Kaiju No. 8 Season 2.”
The top four spots remained the same for two consecutive weeks. New releases include “10 Things I Want to Do Before I’m 40” at #27 and “Replica: My Ex-Wife’s Revenge” at #29. While not a new release, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Hashira Training Arc,” scheduled to air in 2024, has risen from #8 to #5 over the past three weeks. Following the release of the latest film on July 18th, an increase in viewers is evident, as they prepare for and review the series. Looking at the trends by genre for the top 30, there are 13 dramas, 15 anime, and two entertainment titles.
The rankings were created based on a quantitative online survey of men and women aged 15 and over living in Japan. The survey was based on responses from approximately 3,000 people who used video streaming services in the past week, who were asked to report which titles they had watched using multiple-choice and free description options.
