by The giveaway for the sci-fi animated film “AS ONE,” starring Ruki Shiraiwa (JO1), has been revealed. It’s a miniature, shikishi-style illustrated card featuring You, Laco, and Vigo, designed by character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto.
Limited-edition illustrated cards will be distributed weekly, with a version featuring You in the first week of release, Laco in the second, and Vigo in the third. The film follows the setting and worldview of the arcade game “Paradox of Stars and Wings.”
The story follows the encounter between You, a high school student living in modern-day Tokyo, and Laco, a robot mechanic residing on a “cruiser” floating in space, and their fate leads them to their next meeting. Shiraiwa plays You, an aspiring musician; Shiraishi Haruka plays Laco, who is caught up in a giant orbital debris accident; and Takeuchi Shunsuke plays Vigo, whom Laco regards as an older brother.
“AS ONE,” directed by Shizuno Kobun, will be released nationwide from August 22nd at Shinjuku Wald 9 in Tokyo and other theaters. The voice cast also includes Yoko Hikasa and Ryuhei Maruyama (SUPER EIGHT).
