Coming in second place was “Weathering with You.” Directed by Makoto Shinkai, who is also known for “Your Name” and “Sparrow’s Door Lock,” the film was released in theaters in 2019.

The story centers around Hodaka, who runs away from home on a remote island and comes to Tokyo, and Hina, who has the mysterious power to make the weather clear by praying. It also attracted attention because RADWIMPS was in charge of all the music in the film, including the theme song. The “Summer Story,” which blends hope and sadness, and the heart-wrenching music are likely reasons why people want to watch it again and again.

Summer Wars
Coming in at number one was “Summer Wars.” Released in theaters in 2009, it was directed by Hosoda Mamoru, known for films like ” Wolf Children ” and “The Boy and the Beast.” The story is set in both the real world and a virtual world known as “OZ.” It follows the protagonist, high school student Kenji Koiso, as he confronts a global crisis alongside his idol, Natsuki Shinohara, and her family.
