To commemorate “Haikyu!! Day” on August 19th, ABEMA will be broadcasting all episodes of the “Haikyu!!” series for free starting on that day.
“Haikyu!!” is an anime series based on the hugely popular manga by Haruichi Furudate, which has sold over 70 million copies. Set in the world of high school volleyball, the story follows the growth of the members of Karasuno High School’s volleyball team, including the main characters, Shoyo Hinata and Tobio Kageyama.
Since its first TV anime adaptation in 2014, the series has been a hot topic for its passionate coming-of-age story that realistically depicts the characters’ efforts and struggles, its immersive match scenes, and the impassioned performances of its star-studded voice cast, leading to four seasons of the TV anime series and the production of a compilation movie.
In February 2024, the movie “Haikyu!! The Movie: Battle at the Dump,” which depicts the match between Karasuno High School and Nekoma High School at the national tournament, was released and became a mega-hit, grossing over 20 billion yen worldwide, generating a lot of buzz.
Additionally, the long-awaited sequel, “Haikyu!! The Movie: vs. the Little Giants,” which depicts the Spring High School Tournament quarterfinals between Karasuno High School and Kamomedai High School, has also been announced.
Furthermore, the production and TV broadcast of a special anime, “Haikyu!! Where the Monsters Go,” featuring Fukurodani Academy High School and Tanukisaka High School, who also face off in the Spring High School Tournament, has been announced, further fueling the excitement for “Haikyu!!.”
The free broadcast of all episodes of the “Haikyu!!” series will include all 85 episodes from the first to fourth seasons of the TV anime (excluding the movies), as well as all episodes of the OAD and OVA series, which will be broadcast sequentially for free over five days from August 19th (Tuesday) to the 23rd (Saturday), the day of “Haikyu!! Day.” All episodes will be available to watch for free for one week after the broadcast.
