“Pokémon Concierge” is a heartwarming stop-motion animation set at the southern island “Pokémon Resort,” where Pokémon visit as guests. It follows the heartwarming story of novice concierge Haru (voiced by Non) and her partner, Kodak, as they grow through their interactions with the Pokémon. Previous episodes (episodes 1-4) have shown Haru, who has spent her days hustling for work, as she discovers her true self while working as a concierge at the Pokémon Resort.
The Pokémon at the Pokémon Resort appear more relaxed than usual, displaying unusual expressions. One such Pokémon is a Toadgraf, brought to the resort by veteran sailor Dan (voiced by Yamaji Kazuhiro). They appear to be thoroughly enjoying their resort experience, floating down the river with Pokémon on their backs and spinning a ball around on their noses.
However, Dan, on the other hand, occasionally looks a little lonely. Other highlights include the unique Pokémon that appear in every scene, such as Arunda frolicking with Haru’s ex-boyfriend Kent (voiced by Keita Machida ) and Psychic, who is curious about Psyduck’s hair. Additionally, it has been announced that the theme song “Onomatopoeia ISLAND,” written by Tatsuro Yamashita, will be digitally released on September 4, the same day the new episode premieres. “Onomatopoeia ISLAND,” a new song written by Yamashita specifically for this series, features a bright vocal and melody, making it a heartwarming number that soothes not only the heart but also the ears.
The adorable artwork, which matches the world of “Pokémon Concierge,” is also noteworthy. To celebrate the release of the new episode, a collaboration event will be held in the smartphone location-based game app “Pokémon GO,” jointly developed by The Pokémon Company and Niantic, Inc., starting at 10:00 AM on September 9 (Japan Standard Time). Players can encounter Pokémon and characters from the new episode, including Pokémon wearing a life jacket, as well as Toadgrave, Windu, and Eevee. Additionally, in-game stickers featuring Pokémon from “Pokémon Concierge” have been added, and Haru’s aloha shirt will be available as a costume item. It has also been announced that new “Pokémon Concierge”-themed merchandise will be available at Pokémon Centers nationwide on September 6.
The highlight of the event is the “Posing Plush Pokémon,” a soft plush toy inspired by Pokémon from the series. You can even recreate the familiar “Nursing” pose with Pokémon holding its head. Other merchandise in the lineup that captures the world of the series includes the “Todgleer & Dedenne Paperweight,” which recreates a scene from the film, and the “Slowpoke & Noddle Wooden Accessory Tray,” which recreates background art.
