The 2025 summer anime season is nearing the end. This season is said to be a bumper crop, packed with notable sequels and new anime titles. Additionally, some shows are gaining attention by eliciting laughter from viewers with their radical content and parodies.
“New PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT” The long-awaited second season of “New PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT” tells the story of fallen angel sisters Panty (voiced by Ogasawara Arisa) and Stocking (voiced by Ise Mariya) as they solve mysterious cases in Daten City.
The series’s distinctive features include its “reverse animation breakdown,” in which the transformation scenes change from cartoon-style to realistic proportions, as well as its extreme sexual humor and parodies. Even in the second season, the series continued to feature risqué material. For example, Episode 9 begins with a parody of the American comic “Space Ninja Gorms” and pays homage to Jack Kirby, known as “The King” of American comics. Episode 13 also drew attention for the sexy transformation scene featuring the newly introduced angel brothers.
“New PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT” airs in censored form every Wednesday on TOKYO MX, BS NTV, and other channels. In contrast, the uncensored original version airs every Tuesday from 8:30 PM on AT-X.
“Grand Blue” Season 2 “Grand Blue” (original story by Kenji Inoue, manga by Kimitake Yoshioka) is a popular series that aired its first season in 2018. The series follows the protagonist, Iori Kitahara (voiced by Yuuma Uchida), a college student who enjoys his life as a member of a diving club. While the synopsis may seem like a coming-of-age story with a diving theme, the show actually features more drinking party scenes than diving, with frequent scenes of the protagonist getting completely naked and drunk.
The official website bills the series as “Beyond Compliance,” and the story is packed with borderline sexual content. One particularly noteworthy moment in the second season was the parody of the popular anime “Sazae-san” featured in the preview for episode 5. Iori appears completely naked, uttering the familiar line, “So, what’s next week’s Grand Blue?”, and during the final game of rock-paper-scissors, she covers her genitals with a card.
This bold parody elicited reactions of surprise and laughter from viewers, with some commenting, “This goes beyond compliance and even the station’s boundaries.” Season 2 of “Grand Blue” airs every Monday from midnight on TOKYO MX, BS11, and other channels. “Nukitasu THE ANIMATION” The anime “Nukitasu THE ANIMATION” is based on the adult game “What Should I Do, Small-Breasted Girl (Me) Living on an Island Like a Nukige?” On “Aoai Island,” where sexual activity is semi-forced due to the “Pervert Ordinance,” the protagonist, Junnosuke Tachibana (voiced by Kohei Yanagi), and his friends form a resistance movement aimed at overturning the ordinance.
The show’s aggressive depictions in each episode have garnered attention, particularly in episode 4, “Body Orgasm Festival,” which featured the performance of “Pervert Ondo,” a song known for its provocative lyrics, surprising fans. Although some images and lyrics were censored during the terrestrial broadcast, viewers commented, “I can’t believe they were able to broadcast it on terrestrial TV,” and “I can’t get the lewd song out of my head.”
Nukitashi THE ANIMATION is currently airing on AT-X in the “Seiai Island version,” which has minimal restrictions, and on BS11 and TOKYO MX2 in the “fully censored version,” which restricts explicit scenes. Each streaming site also offers a “streaming-only version,” which is slightly more censored than the “Seiai Island version.”
