“SI-VIS: The Sound of Heroes” is an original TV anime produced by ANIPLEX and Sony Music. The story follows the mixed-gender artist unit “SI-VIS,” led by leader YOSUKE, as they become artist heroes who save the world through music. While their incredible vocal and performance skills have taken the music scene both in Japan and overseas, their true identities are those of heroes who fight against “Mirage,” a mysterious disaster that threatens to destroy the world. SI-VIS enthrals audiences with their live performances, gathering that energy to fight. However, because their outward appearance suggests a live performance, their true identity as heroes remains unknown.
Directed by Daisuke Yoshida, the series will feature a talented team of staff, including Fumiaki Maruto, who has served as series composer and scriptwriter for popular titles like “How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend” and “WHITE ALBUM 2,” and popular illustrator Hidari, who has worked on character designs for titles like “The Magnificent Kotobuki” and “Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.”
Studio VOLN will handle animation. The cast includes Daisuke Namikawa as Yosuke, Ayane Sakura as Siren, Akari Kito as μ (Mu), Nobunaga Shimazaki as Souji (the character 崎 is pronounced “tatsusaki” or “tatsusaki”), and Soma Saito as June. Additionally, the theme song will be performed by SI-VIS, a mixed-gender unit comprised of Sony Music’s finest vocalists.
The series has been scheduled for a two-season broadcast, with the opening theme “So Far Away” and the ending theme “FRIENDS & SMILE” for the first season sung by the in-game unit “SI-VIS.” Both songs were written and composed by rock singer Takuya Nakajima, and it was also revealed that SI-VIS’s leader, YOSUKE, will be sung by Taisho, former vocalist and guitarist of the four-member band PUSH REG LEADs. Nakajima and Taisho have also provided comments. Takumi Nakajima: For the opening number, “So Far Away,” I first constructed the flow in my head, taking advantage of the up-tempo, fast-paced feel and developing dramatically in the chorus. I then wrote the song, including the lyrics, in one go, aligning with the script’s theme. For the ending number, “FRIENDS & SMILE,” I expanded on the image of the song, the feeling of suddenly feeling gentle after watching the anime, and the idea of friendship being wonderful, and wrote the lyrics accordingly.
While the two songs have completely different impressions, I feel they are a perfect fit for the entrance and exit of the story, and I think I was able to portray both as connecting to a gate to the future. Taisho: Recording episode: I flew from Sapporo, clutching my confidence, hope, and anxiety. It was my first time recording a song for a band other than my own, so the demo recording didn’t go as well as I had hoped. The engineer told me, “You can put more of Taisho’s personality into it.” After the actual recording, I gradually got the hang of it and was able to channel myself into YOSUKE successfully. After watching this work, I thought, ‘I’m not the type to habitually watch a lot of anime, but I ended up watching the whole thing.’
The battle scenes in “SI-VIS” are exhilarating, and I like them. Oh, I’m a fan of Siren.
