HoneyWorks will perform the opening theme for the TV anime “My Childhood Friend Won’t Be a Romantic Comedy,” which will air on TV Tokyo’s six affiliated stations, AT-X, and BS Nippon TV starting Monday, January 5, 2026, and will be available online at d Anime Store and AnimeFesta.
This time, HoneyWorks received an offer from the anime production team to collaborate with anime characters in a unique style. Their new single, “I Love You♡,” will be released on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, as HoneyWorks meets Mizumoe Shio, Kaido, Tsukimiru Na, and Hinata Haru (voiced by Kusumi Rin, Serizawa Yu, Hiratsuka Sai, and Yamamoto Yuyuki ).
This single captures the characters’ honest feelings and fluctuating emotions in “My Childhood Friend Won’t Be a Romantic Comedy,” creating a song packed with cuteness and heart-pounding excitement. In addition to the four heroine versions, solo versions of each character will also be included as coupling tracks.
The jacket is accordion-style, allowing you to choose your favorite character for the cover. It also includes a purchase-only application flyer for a chance to receive a special voice message (random, four types in total) from Minamoeshio, Kaido, Tsukimiruna, or Hinataharu. Special benefits for first-come, first-served purchasers and double purchasers have also been announced.
The anime’s PV has also been released, and you can hear a snippet of “I Love You♡,” so be sure to check it out. [Comment] We were approached by the anime production team and were tasked with creating the opening theme, a unique collaboration with anime characters. Inspired by the worldview of “Childhood Friend Won’t Be a Romantic Comedy,” we’ve incorporated the characters’ “straightforward thoughts” and “wavering emotions” into the music, creating a song packed with cuteness and excitement. We believe this song brightens the start of the story, so we hope you enjoy it alongside the anime. HoneyWorks
