Snowball Earth, an anime adaptation of Tsujitsugu Yuichiro’s popular manga, will begin airing on Nippon Television in April 2026. The teaser trailer, teaser visuals, cast, and character visuals, all featuring the first-ever anime footage, have been released.
Trailer is based on the manga of the same name by Tsujitsugu Yuichiro, which has been serialized in Shogakukan’s Monthly! Spirits since January 2021 and has sold over 700,000 copies up to the latest volume 10, released on December 26th.
This sci-fi, monster, and robot action story is set on Snowball Earth, a planet covered in snow and ice. It depicts a grand sci-fi adventure and the passionate friendship that develops under harsh conditions. “Yukio, I’m going to make a friend.” Tetsuo, a shy boy, has only one friend: the giant robot Yukio. They were the “saviors” who would defeat the galactic monsters that invaded from space. Ten years have passed since the final battle that determined the fate of humanity… When Tetsuo returns to Earth, he finds the land covered in snow and ice, a frozen “Snowball Earth.”
Amidst the transformed landscape, with a “promise” to Yukio in his heart, Tetsuo sets out on a journey into an unknown world. Takuto Yoshinaga plays the protagonist, Yabusame Tetsuo, the extremely shy but “savior” of humanity; Daisuke Hirakawa plays Yukio, Tetsuo’s kindhearted robot friend; Ami Koshimizu plays Nogi Ao, a curious woman who controls the fiery monsters; and Yoshimi Tamura plays Hagane Takimura, a passionate researcher with advanced skills.
Additionally, mecha design will be handled by Kim Se-jun, an animator with extensive experience in mecha design, who has worked on numerous robot anime, including as mecha animation director for “Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time” and as mechanical animation designer for “Mobile Suit Gundam: GQuuuuuX.” Ryuta Yanagi, who designed the monsters for “Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale,” will also be in charge of monster design.
The music for this work will be handled by Tatsuya Kato, Hiroaki Tsutsumi, and Yuki Kanesaka. This team, which worked on the anime “Dr. Stone,” will provide an excellent score that captures the world of Snowball Earth. Additionally, a diverse team of talented staff members will be assembled to create the world of Snowball Earth. The teaser visual features the main character, Yabusame Tetsuo, standing majestically in the center, with his best friend, the giant robot Yukio, standing majestically behind him.
The visuals hint at the beginning of an epic story about a boy known as the “Savior” and his robot companion. Meanwhile, as the tagline suggests, Tetsuo is “a boy with zero friends,” and we’ll be keeping an eye on how he unfolds the story as he shows us a new side of the protagonist. A teaser trailer has also been released.

Additionally, we also see new companions, Ao Nogi and Hagimura Hagi, whom Tetsuo and Yukio meet.
