New CEO Joo Young-chan was appointed as Sony Music Entertainment Korea (SMEK), a global record label.

After this, Sony Music Entertainment Korea (referred to as Sony Music Korea) announced on the 8th, “We will appoint Joo Young-chan as the new CEO to replace CEO Jang Yoon-Joong, who has led exchanges in the domestic and foreign music industry.”

CEO Youngchan Joo was in charge of investment and distribution, A&R and management, and overseas marketing of K-pop at Sony Music Korea.

Following former CEO Jang Yoon-Joong, he will lead the overseas expansion of Sony Music Korea’s flagship K-pop artists and the domestic marketing of overseas artists belonging to the headquarters.

Sony Music Korea said, “Based on the infrastructure that CEO Joo Young-chan has collaborated with at home and abroad, it is expected to play a pivotal role in the overseas expansion of K-pop artists.” We will further strengthen our strategic partnership with local management.”

Sony Music Korea is a Korean corporation of Sony Music Entertainment, one of the world’s three most prominent record labels. It serves as a hub for domestic promotion and distribution of overseas music and entry into the K-pop world.
