‘2021 K-Pop (((Radar))) TikTok’, the first K-pop conference hosted by Space Audi, released a total of 10 sessions.
‘2021 K-Pop (((Radar))) TikTok’ was conducted on the first and second rounds on the 10th and 17th, with data inside and outside of K-Pop such as K-Pop design, lyrics, stage directing, virtual idol, fandom culture, and K-Pop data. A total of 10 sessions were released on various topics such as trends.
The conference, held under four themes of FANDOM, TIKTOK, CREATIVE, and NEXT KPOP, was conducted by K-Pop Radar as a team with famous K-Pop critics Cha Woo-jin, Kim Young-Dae, and Kim Yun-ha, and added expertise. After detecting various trends in K-pop, primary keywords were announced.
Also, starting with Jeon Woong of AB6IX, In-ok Jo, CEO of Greenhouse, a design studio specializing in K-pop who designed album jackets for virtual artists such as Apokie, ONF, Oh My Girl, and IZ*ONE, Na-gun Hongik University professor, Red Dot Award judge, In-chan Hwang, who recently participated in K-pop lyrics Poet, Korean typography professor Kim Kyung-sun, Seoul National University, Plan A. Kim Sang-wook directed BTS’s world tour and Mnet Kingdom’s ATEEZ stage, Seo Dong-Hyun PD, Loona, ONF, etc. A total of 26 people, including creators and experts in each field, and TikTok’s global music head ‘Ola Oberman’, TikTok officials, and famous TikTok creators, appeared at this conference, adding meaning to it.
The representative words for K-pop at this conference are ‘non-face-to-face,’ which has been advanced due to the COVID-19 crisis, ‘tech’ in the sense that technological innovation has developed rapidly in K-pop, and ‘chaos’ as unexpected situations unfold. A total of three were selected.
Then, as ‘impressive artists selected by K-pop critics,’ four teams were honored: Espa, Tomorrow by Together (TXT), Weekly, and Woowa. In the case of ESP, the MZ generation received attention for the new acceptance of the genre called SMP, and Tomorrow X Together left a strong impact due to the reflection of the narrative and Anglo-American culture that they have built elaborately since their debut.
The ‘Experts’ Selection of 7 Album Designs of the Year’ received an explosive response from netizens. 7 K-pop albums are the main characters, from Soyeon Jeon to NCT Dream, Wendy, Key, AKMU, ONF, and SHINee. Its unique concept, rarity and aesthetics, and visualization of the artist’s worldview received good reviews.
In addition, time was prepared to predict keywords for 2022. Face-to-face, metaverse, and character were announced as critical keywords, and the synergy between character and metaverse is expected to play a significant role in the K-pop market.
