A screening and concert of the movie “The Kind Lion,” directed and written by the manga artist Yanase Takashi, creator of ” Anpanman ” and model for the NHK serial TV drama ” Anpan,” will be held on the 18th at the small hall of Fujisawa Civic Hall (Kugenuma Higashi, Fujisawa City). The event is sponsored by the NPO Japan International Children’s Song Museum.
The movie, released in 1970, is an animated film about a lion raised by a dog. Isobe Hajime, who was in charge of the music, is also the godfather of the male chorus group “Bonny Jacks,” which achieved a hit with the song “Te no Hira wo Taiyo ni,” written by Yanase.
Due to this connection, this will be the first time the event is being held. Following the screening, a concert will be held by Bonny Jacks and Oba Teruko, a children’s song singer and the director of the Japan International Children’s Song Museum. Isobe’s eldest son, clarinetist Shuhei (graduated from Prefectural Shonan High School), will also appear as a talk guest. The performance will start at 1:30 pm. Admission is 3,000 yen for general admission seats.
