by The TV anime “One Dance” will begin airing on October 8, 2025. A discussion article and video featuring the original author, Coffee, and artist SKY-HI have been released.
“One Dance” is a dance manga serialized in “Afternoon.” It tells the coming-of-age story of high school student Kotani Hanaki, who suffers from a stutter, and becomes drawn to dance through her classmate, Wanita Hikari, who pursues her own form of expression, embarking on a freestyle form that doesn’t require words. The TV anime will feature leading Japanese dancer RIEHATA as dance producer, using a technique to capture the movements of top dancers into CG.
The opening theme will be “Stare In Wonder” by BE: FIRST, a seven-member dance and vocal group from BMSG, the agency where SKY-HI serves as president. Coffee and SKY-HI have had a long-standing relationship, and in this conversation, they delved into the appeal of “One Dance” and revealed the process behind creating the theme song, “Stare In Wonder.” Coffee commented, “When I got in touch with SKY-HI, he sent me a demo of ‘Stare In Wonder.’
The moment I heard it, I knew it was terrific! ‘This is it!'” In response, SKY-HI expressed his joy, saying, “Actually, ‘Stare In Wonder’ was the song I felt most satisfied with out of all the demos, so being chosen by the original author was the ultimate honor for me as a creator.” He continued, “As the theme song for ‘One Dance,’ it’s a song that will stay with us forever. I had a strong desire not to have any regrets, and I wanted to create something that everyone involved in the project could be satisfied with. I’m relieved that we didn’t give up and were able to see it through.”
The 14th volume of the “One Dance” manga will be released on September 22. The full interview will be featured on the cover of the September 25 issue of Afternoon magazine. This will be an extended version of the interview article on the official website. An advance screening will be held on September 27 at Shinjuku Piccadilly, with the main cast and dance cast appearing to build excitement for the broadcast start on October 8.
