Character visuals from the completely new animated film The Rose of Versailles have been released. The film tells the story of the lives of Oscar, Antoinette, Andre, and Fersen, who all lived their lives to the fullest in revolutionary France.
Accompanied by a catchphrase expressing how each character lived in the turbulent times following the French Revolution, these visuals allow viewers to reminisce about their stories of love and destiny. Oscar François de Jarjayes, a beautiful woman dressed as a man and raised as the son of the Shogun family, is depicted with a sword raised with the catchphrase “Forward, follow your passion,” with the blazing flames and the Bastille prison at his back, choosing his own life with his own hands, overcoming his status and gender, and jumping into the French Revolution in beautiful form.
Marie Antoinette, the noble and elegant queen who came from neighboring Austria to France, is depicted with the tagline “Love is cruel and beautiful,” and her glamorous life at the French court and her natural charm that attracts people are expressed, while she stands with a somewhat brief appearance, secretly harboring her love for Fersen. Andre Grandier, a commoner who is Oscar’s servant and childhood friend, who supports Oscar and always stays close to her as a good, understanding person, has the tagline ” I will protect you until the end of my life.” It seems as if Oscar is there, gazing into the distance.
Hans Axel von Fersen, a handsome and intelligent count, has the tagline “Even if it is an unforgivable love,” and expresses his determination to dedicate his love and destiny to Antoinette after his fateful encounter with her at a masked ball at the Paris Opera House, and is tossed about by their passion. Still, he expresses his determination for his chosen life by dedicating his love and destiny to her.
