A unique project will be held at the Kyoto Cultural Museum (Nakagyo Ward) on the 27th. The creators of the popular anime “ONE PIECE,” whose main character is a pirate, will talk behind the scenes of its production.

This is one of the programs at the Kyoto Historica International Film Festival, which opens on the 23rd. To commemorate the completion of the TV anime series “Wano Country” based on a Japanese historical drama at the end of last year, series director Tatsuya Nagamine and others will appear.

Based on a manga that has sold over 500 million copies worldwide, the story follows Luffy, a boy who eats a devil fruit, becomes a rubber man and aspires to become the Pirate King. The Wano Country anime was aired on Fuji TV from July 2019 to December last year for a total of 197 episodes and gained popularity for its visual beauty, worldview, and intense action, unique to historical dramas.

From 2:00 pm on the 27th, two Wano Country films (approximately 23 minutes each) will be screened. “Luffy’s Highest Point Reached! “Gear 5”” has more than 1.5 times the number of drawings than usual, and became a hot topic on social media, with people saying, “The action is amazing.” Next, Nagamine-san and line producer Tetsuji Akahori spoke.

Additionally, from 10:30 am on the 28th, the two will participate in a storyboard battle between young people involved in video production.

Admission to both events is free, but pre-registration for screenings and talks is required on the official website by the 21st. For inquiries, please get in touch with the film festival office (075-222-5523).
