A press preview for the “Animation Jujutsu Kaisen Exhibition: ‘Kaigyoku/Gamaori’ and ‘Shibuya Incident’,” an exhibition of the anime ” Jujutsu Kaisen ” based on the original work by Gege Akutami, was held today, December 4th, in Exhibition Hall A on the 4th floor of the Sunshine City World Import Mart Building in Tokyo.

The “Animation Jujutsu Kaisen Exhibition: ‘Kaigyoku/Gamaori’ and ‘Shibuya Incident'” will be held at the same venue from tomorrow, December 5th, to the 29th. Numerous exhibits were prepared, allowing visitors to experience the worlds of the second seasons of the TV anime “Kaigyoku/Gamaori” and “Shibuya Incident” from various angles, including exhibits inspired by scenes from the series, rare original drawings, storyboards, setting materials, and other production materials. Merchandise featuring key visuals and original illustrations will also be available for sale.

The exhibition kicks off with a life-size figure of Itadori Yuji, welcoming visitors with a powerful gaze and striking a black flash pose. The next area, the “Kaitama/Gyokuori” (Gyoku-Ori), was decorated in a blue theme and adorned with original artwork, storyboards, and character design materials. There was also a section recreating a scene of Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru playing basketball. A photo spot recreated a technical college classroom, featuring life-size panels of Gojo, Geto, and the other five characters.

The exhibit then shifted completely from the “Kaitama/Gyokuori” area to the dimly lit “Shibuya Incident” area. Passing through an entrance resembling a train station ticket gate, visitors were once again greeted by rows of original artwork, storyboards, and character design materials. Visitors could also relive the series through an exhibit of a meteorite sculpture that appears in the battle between Sukuna and Jogo, a theater area featuring a large-screen video of the “Shibuya Incident,” and a photo spot featuring nine characters lined up along an entire wall.

The final area of the exhibit commemorated the anime series’ fifth anniversary, showcasing key visuals and package jackets from throughout the series. Junya Enoki, who voiced Itadori, made an appearance at the preview. Enoki, dressed in a costume inspired by Itadori’s colors, jokingly commented on the Itadori figure, “This is amazing. The facial expression and the wrinkles between his eyes are all so detailed, and I love this pose. I want one for my house. Can I have it when I’m done? (laughs).”

When asked where he would display it if he got it, he smiled and replied, “It’s my masterpiece, so I’d like to put it in my entrance as a nameplate. I want to show it off.” Regarding the original illustrations for the exhibition, Enoki said, “The shape of Itadori and Gojo’s hands expresses their respective personalities.”

With Gojo holding up his index finger, Enoki said, “The feeling of telling people to follow me is so Gojo-like,” while with Itadori spreading his palm, Enoki shared his unique interpretation, saying, “It feels like we’re all going for it together, like we’re a team.” Regarding the exhibition, Enoki commented, “It recreates scenes from the anime, and I could feel the warmth of every detail.” He particularly enjoyed the exhibit where visitors could compare the line drawings with the original animation. “Since dubbing is often done at the line drawing stage, I was impressed by how much more impactful it becomes when color is added.” He also recommended the corner depicting the battle between Sukuna and Jogo, saying, “There was a meteorite falling like a volcanic eruption, and the meticulous construction really made it feel like the heat of the meteorite.” He also revealed that he enjoyed the corner that recreated the station from “Shibuya Incident.” In the theater area for “Shibuya Incident,” Enoki recalled the scene that reminded him of the dubbing session. “It was a scene where I spoke alone, so I recorded it alone, and it reminded me of the loneliness I felt in the studio,” he said, describing it as a brutal scene. Regarding the third season of the anime, “Shimetsu Kaiyuu,” which will begin airing in January next year, he said, “I think just looking at the original drawings will help you remember the story, so if you start watching ‘Shimetsu Kaiyuu’ from that flow, you’ll enjoy it even more.”

Furthermore, Enoki recommended the “Sukuna Finger-Style Sweets” when asked about merchandise to be sold at the venue. “They actually contain 10 fingers, so if you eat one a day, you too can become Sukuna! I’m not sure if there’s anyone who wants to become one, though (laughs),” he said, promoting the unusual goods. Finally, he concluded the press conference by saying, “They’re so well-made, and you can really feel the love and understanding the creators have for Jujutsu Kaisen. I think fans will enjoy this exhibition, so please come and visit.”
