Gege Akutami discusses how he came up with the popular figure.

The manga’s creator, Gege Akutami, provides intriguing character insights in the Jujutsu Kaisen Official Guidebook, providing information on the characters’ backgrounds and designs. The source of Choso’s appearance, the oldest of the nine Cursed Paintings, is one of these disclosures.

Akutami revealed that he once saw a fashion model who had an influence on Choso’s character design. One characteristic that distinguishes Choso from the other Cursed Paintings is that he seems entirely human.

Akutami went on to explain that stronger vessels are able to withstand the influence of the cursed thing and maintain their original appearances, which is how the appearance of Cursed Paintings is frequently determined by the vessels they inhabit.

When it comes to Choso and his siblings, their outward looks are more a reflection of who they are than of the roles they play.

Furthermore, Akutami explained that a cursed thing takes on general knowledge about the universe from its vessel, in addition to appearance. Like Sukuna, Choso gets his perspective and mannerisms from his vessel, which shapes his knowledge of things.

A glimpse into Choso’s amazing abilities, including Blood Manipulation techniques like Slicing Exorcism, Convergence, and Supernova, among others, can be found in the Jujutsu Kaisen Official Fanbook. These methods, which highlight Choso’s skill in battle, are derived from his natural cursed powers.

When it comes to personality, Choso is extremely fond of his younger brothers and despises Noritoshi Kamo, also referred to as Kenjaku. Choso is one of the most artistically beautiful characters in the series, and his popularity among fans is further reinforced by Akutami’s revelation.

The interview with Akutami not only confirms fans’ appreciation for Choso’s model-like beauty but also expands on the character’s origins and growth inside the Jujutsu Kaisen universe.
