“Dandadan” is a popular manga by Tatsuyuki Shinobu, which has sold over 10 million copies and is currently being serialized (updated every Tuesday) on Shueisha’s manga magazine app “Shonen Jump +.” The first season of the TV anime aired from October to December 2012 and gained popularity. Momo (Ayase Momo), a high school girl born into a family of spiritualists, and her classmate Okarun (Takakura Ken), an occult enthusiast.
The two begin talking after Momo saves Okarun from a bully in class, but they get into an argument because Momo believes in ghosts but denies aliens. In contrast, Okarun believes in aliens but denies ghosts. To convince the others that aliens and ghosts exist, Momo visits an abandoned hospital known for UFO sightings while Okarun ventures into a haunted tunnel. There, the two encounter an overwhelming strangeness that transcends comprehension.
Momo awakens her hidden power in a desperate situation, and Okarun, who has acquired the power of a curse, challenges the approaching strangeness! A fateful love story begins! An occult battle and a youth story. The first season of the anime “Dandadan” was broadcast in 2024 and caused a great sensation both at home and abroad with its stunning visual quality and unique story packed with elements of the occult, science fiction, and youth.
