To commemorate the 130th anniversary of author Edogawa Ranpo’s birth, the episodes of the anime Detective Conan (Yomiuri TV/Nippon TV network, every Saturday at 6 pm) to be aired on November 16th and 23rd will be titled “The Ranpo Mansion Murder Case. ” The story will be set at the former Edogawa Ranpo mansion for two weeks. Conan and the Detective Boys will visit the Ranpo Mansion accompanied by Kobayashi-sensei.
There are many valuable books in the storehouse that Edogawa Ranpo used as a library, and Conan and the others are very excited. Then Detective Sato and Detective Takagi visit and tell them that a murder case has occurred in a nearby park. Moreover, the victim’s belongings seem related to the storehouse, which is usually closed to the public. The modern-day Detective Boys take on this complex case.
The script is written by Okura Takahiro, who also wrote the screenplay for the currently-showing movie “Detective Conan: The Million Dollar Five-Pointed Star.” Okura has also written many other Conan scripts, including “Crimson Love Letter,” “The Fist of Blue Sapphire,” and “Halloween’s Bride,” so we’ll see how Conan and the Detective Boys will perform at the Ranpo Mansion.
A unique visual with a portrait of Edogawa Ranpo as its motif has been released to commemorate this collaboration. With an actual picture in the background, Conan poses in the same way as Ranpo and smiles fearlessly, creating a visual that evokes a partnership that transcends time.
