A high-quality story for the long autumn nights
Among the anime that will start in October 2024, several works are worth watching, educational, and recommended for people in their 40s and above. This time, we will list three excellent stories from among those works.
A story that regenerates life, “My Wife Becomes an Elementary School Student” is an anime based on a work serialized by Yayu Murata in “Weekly Manga TIMES” (Houbunsha). Ten years ago, Keisuke Niijima, who lost his beloved wife and daughter Mai, continued to live a dull life due to disappointment.
However, one day, an elementary school girl suddenly appeared and said, “I’m back,” the two were confused. Immediately after her death, Takae was reborn as “Shiraishi Marika” through reincarnation, and when she happened to pass by the Niijima family, her memories of her previous life returned. Keisuke and Mai were happy to be reunited with their wife/mother, even though she was still an elementary school student, and their lives were bright and cheerful.
However, Takae has her own family and life as an elementary school student, so they cannot always be together. Nevertheless, Keisuke and his friends, who were able to have an unlikely reunion, were happy and cried as they enjoyed the conversations and home-cooked meals that they would never have had again. However, things go differently than planned, as there is a high possibility that they will be reported if Keisuke, a middle-aged man, and Takae, an elementary school girl, act together.
Furthermore, problems arise one after another that trouble the three, such as the appearance of a female employee who falls in love with Keisuke and Mai’s employment problems. This classmate confesses her feelings to Takae (Marika) and discovers that Takae has been neglected by her mother.
Will the three be able to live as a family again? And is it right to revive the bond between a family who has been reborn as strangers? “My Wife is a Primary School Student” is a story that teaches us what it takes for people looking down to look forward again. It will air on TOKYO MX and other stations from Sunday, October 6, 2024.
