The summer anime “Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru” Season 2 will air from midnight on September 13, 2025, with episode 23, “I Thought Nothing Good Would Happen in My Life.” Internet excitement has been building, with comments like, “It’s reaching the scene I particularly wanted to see in the anime!” and “Is the next episode of ‘Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru’ a sure thing?!”
Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru” is a manga serialized by Shinichi Fukuda in “Young Gangan.” The original manga sadly concluded in March 2025, before the broadcast of Season 2 of the anime, but the anime returns with even more power than the previous season. It follows the story of Gojo Wakana, a high school boy aspiring to become a head maker who makes Hina doll faces, and Kitagawa Marin, a popular girl who is always the center of attention in class, as they deepen their bond through cosplay after meeting one day. Note: Due to the nature of this topic, the following text may contain spoilers for those who have not yet seen the series. Please be careful when reading further. First of all, the quality of the game “Coffin” depicted in the story was a hot topic in the last issue, but the official website has been updated.
The introduction states, “This game is not suitable for those with sensitive skin,” and this update may not be suitable for those with sensitive skin. Scroll down… Even Narume, the pixel artist for “Coffin,” was surprised! Episode 23 begins with a scene of Ogata Akira crying. She’s wearing a sailor uniform and sees an empty bookshelf in front of her. “How embarrassing. You’re already in middle school, right?” With that, Akira’s mother throws away her daughter’s treasured manga.
“Akira’s painful past right at the beginning made me cry…” “I had to throw away my manga many times in elementary school, too.” “I really can’t forgive parents for using their position to force their children to throw away their favorite things.” Online, voices of sympathy and anger were seen, perhaps comparing the scene to their own pasts. Time passed, and Akira is now a high school student. When his mother asks him, “You haven’t bought any more manga, have you?”, he calmly replies, “No.” He has also stopped watching anime
After the broadcast, Hiroyuki Nemoto of the show posted a background image of Asahi’s family home (and what appears to be a local garbage collection bin). The sky suddenly changed from blue to a gloomy, snowy one. It seems like a change in Asahi’s mood.
This week, Kitagawa goes shopping with Shinju Inui for a surprise project. A few days before, they planned to have Shinju’s older sister, Sajuna Inui, who works as a popular cosplayer under the name “Juju,” cosplay as a surprise cosplay. Kitagawa’s friends, Suzuka Ito and Miyako Honda, were particularly excited. Sajuna actually wanted to cosplay as Black Lobelia from the anime “Flower Princess Retsu!!” However, Shinju revealed that she had given up on the idea because “she’s too short and it would ruin the character’s image.”
Hearing this, Miyako enthusiastically declared, “Don’t worry, don’t worry! Everything you’re worried about can be fixed. Let’s get Juju to play Black Lobelia!” Miyako already had a Black Lobelia costume (she bought it online, but it was too small for her to wear), so as long as she had a photo studio, she could cosplay. And then, a surprise plan was hatched… In the scene where the surprise plan was being planned, a new production for “Kise Koi” was unveiled: paper puppet theater (a contraction of “paper puppet theater”). There were surprised reactions online, with comments like “Suddenly a paper puppet show lol” and “Cute paper puppets,” and it seems a paper puppet club had been formed among the production staff.
This season of “Kise Koi” had many surprise productions! After the broadcast, the Staff involved posted one after another. A large number of people were involved, with 12 names listed in the end credits for the puppeteers alone. Even a freelance animator was involved in the paper puppet theater! According to a series of posts by CloverWorks’ Someno Sho, “We gathered together members from different sections to film,” and “This is the first time we’ve done a live-action paper puppet show directed by Yamamoto Yusuke since episode 3 of Bocchi.”
Paper puppetry was also featured in “Bocchi the Rock!”, also produced by CloverWorks. Incidentally, the official website for “Flower Princess Retsu!!,” featuring Black Lobelia, has also been updated. What? A Premium Blu-ray Box release has been announced? What? Incidentally, Yamamoto Yusuke is also the character designer and animation director for “Flower Princess Retsu!!.” As for the surprise plan, Sasuka quietly fumed, saying, “I didn’t hear about it. And don’t expect everyone to be happy about the surprise,” and it failed spectacularly… Miyako and Suzuka profusely apologized, saying, “I’m sorry…” However, when Miyako asks, “The reason you don’t cosplay? I heard you said it was your height to Kokoro-chan, but it’s also your breasts and baby face, right?” and Suzuka further encourages her by saying, “If you really want to do it, you should do it before you end up wishing you’d done it then,” Sasuka has a change of heart… Meanwhile, Gojo invites Asahi to his house to make props for his next cosplay.
The question, “How long have you been making art, Asahi?” leads to a conversation about when he became close with Suzuka and Miyako. Asahi, a university student, is spinning a capsule toy from “Flower Princess Retsu!!” on a street corner, saying it will only be “just once,” when he is spotted by Suzuka and Miyako, who are in the same seminar. Just when he thinks it’s all over, they say, “Ogata-san, you like Retsu too!”Is it evident that you like Retsu?” she said, snapping at the idea. “I used to think that nothing good would ever happen in my life,” Asahi said, but after meeting the two of them, she reflected, “For the first time, I felt like I could be myself and that I no longer had to lie.”
The production staff actually made the “eyeballs and cake” props that Gojo and Asahi made. From the paper puppet show to the eyeballs and cake, you can see glimpses of their serious adult side in many ways. Relying on the “adult group” of Miyako and Suzuka, Sasuka decided to cosplay as Black Lobelia. With the help of the makeup techniques that Miyako has honed over the years, it turned out to be a stunning Black Lobelia! Shinju was delighted, while Kitagawa burst into tears. Spira Spica’s vocalist, Mikal, who sang the opening theme song “Ao to Kirameki,” also cried, saying, “Juju-sama… Shinju-chan… Oh, I’m crying, crying, crying. Everyone’s laughing, it’s making me cry.”
After the photoshoot, Sasuka expressed her gratitude to Miyako and Suzuka, saying, “I’m glad I cosplayed as Black Lobelia.” Sasuka had intended to quit cosplay. She wondered how long she could keep going… But meeting Miyako made her realize that “it’s okay to continue cosplaying even as an adult.” Miyako and the others looked at Sasuka with a puzzled expression, saying, “What an obvious thing to say. There are so many people older than us.” They then discussed how you don’t have to give up your hobbies, and that as adults, you’ll have more money to spend than you did as students. “Through her interactions with the two adult cosplayers, Juju-sama, who has always cosplayed alone, begins to lose her preconceptions, and the ice in her heart melts.”
“Juju-sama is stubborn, isn’t she? But that’s also because of her youth, and the adult group uses their experience to loosen up and cover up that stubbornness.” “The persuasiveness of the adult group was an eye-opener for Juju-sama, who hadn’t interacted with any cosplayers other than Marin until now.” “The scene where Juju-sama took a step forward after hearing about the bad adults (in a good way) really brought me to tears.” “Miyako-san and Suzuka-san say they’re no-good adults, but they save both Akira-san and Juju-sama, so they really are saviors.” Miyako and Suzuka’s words to Sasugano resonated with adults online as well. Even as we get older, we still like what we like. The reputation of the no-good adults group has also gone up. “The adults were acting like adults, in both good and bad ways, and it was great.” “No matter how old you are, you can do what you love.”
“The bad adults, who cherish the things you love, the things you enjoy, and the things you want to try, and want everyone to be happy, are so cool.” After the Black Lobelia photoshoot, Kitagawa noticed something while they were having a takoyaki party. Asahi hadn’t shown up that day… (He was making props with Gojo.) “I mean, does Akira hate me? When he came back from the bathroom after karaoke, he didn’t say anything when I was there, but now he’s talking normally, so it’s like he can’t handle having me around.” Asahi dislikes Kitagawa.
Then, Asahi receives a group photo from Suzuka to commemorate the success of the surprise. She zoomed in on just Kitagawa in her costume… “Zoomed in on Marin…what was your intention…?” Mikiha asks. Why did Asahi zoom in? After the broadcast, Naota Himena, who plays Kitagawa, commented, “Juju-sama is the best love after all,” and added, “Time flies and the next episode is the finale!!!! The finale…!!!!!! So fast! So fast!!!!!! I’m going to cry!!!!!! Please stay with me until the very end!” That’s right, the next episode will be the finale of Season 2 of “Kise Koi.”
Kazama Mayuko, who plays Miyako in the adult group, posted, “It’s a shame to stop having fun, and it’s okay to start doing what you love whenever you want… My relationship with Suzuka and Asahi is also wonderful…” She continued, “Being an adult is so much fun!” Miyake Marie, who plays Suzuka in the adult group, also spoke about being an adult. Where was the ad-lib? “For adults, you can buy what you want whenever you want, and the range of activities expands, which is fun! As you can understand the feelings of both Juju-chan and Aki-chan, many lines really resonate in this episode. Also, I was surprised by the way the text flowed in the photo shoot scene. I’m grateful that they picked up on the lines I ad-libbed.
Every scene in Kise Koi is so powerful that it’s really worth watching. Please watch every corner multiple times.” He plays Gojo-kun’s grandfather, Kaoru Ono. Atsushi also commented on the ad-libs. “I wonder if you understand the good things that happened to Grandpa? I was grateful that they made time for him to appear in a scene that was unique to this anime.” Once again, the production staff received numerous comments following the broadcast. (Partial list) The script for episode 23 was, as expected, written by Juju! Even the deformed style is cute. The next episode is the final one.
The title is “Dear My Dress-Up Darling.” Asahi reads the title aloud. “What a subtitle!” “I’m sure this was the English title, right?” “The title of the series has come out!” The internet is buzzing, but there’s no doubt that it’s a fitting title for the final episode. “My Dress-Up Darling” Season 2 will air every Saturday from midnight on TOKYO MX, BS 11, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, Yomiuri TV, Me-Tele, and Hokkaido Broadcasting. It will air on AT-X every Sunday at 10:00 PM, and on Animax every Saturday at 10:00 PM, starting August 23.
