Jump manga ‘Choujun! Chojo Senpai’ to be made into a TV anime ‘Saemon-kun is a Summoner’ by Shun Numa, a psychic police comedy

It has been decided that Shun Numa’s manga “Cho-Jun! Chojo Senpai” will be adapted into a TV anime in 2026. A teaser visual and an original illustration by the original author have also been released.

“Cho-Jun! Chojo Senpai” was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) from February 2024 to June 2025. Regarding the decision to make an anime version of this work, which has already finished serialization, Shun Numa commented, “I owe this opportunity to all of you readers, and I am grateful to them for the strong support you have shown me. Right now, I am amazed that ‘passion really does turn a work into a phoenix,’ and I am keeping warm in the arms of the phoenix that you all created.”

“Super Cruise! Chojo Senpai has been in the Top 10 of the “Next Manga Awards” for two consecutive years. “Super Cruise! Chojo Senpai” is a psychic police comedy by Shun Numa, the author of “Saemon-kun is a Summoner.” The story is set in Ginza, a district in Japan’s leading entertainment area. It follows the adventures of psychic sergeant Chojo Jun, who works at the Jinjuku Nishi Police Box, and rookie police officer Ipponki Nao, a black belt in judo.

The series won sixth place in the 2024 Comics category and third place in the 2025 Comics category in the “Next Manga Awards,” a user-recommended and voted-for manga award sponsored by KADOKAWA and Niconico. The comic has sold over 300,000 copies (including digital versions).

The anime adaptation is directed by Junichi Yamamoto, known for “Maebashi Witches.” The series is written and scripted by Hayashi Mori, with character design by Masakatsu Sasaki, and animation by Arbo Animation, known for “Kowloon Generic Romance” and “We Never Learn.”
