What unpleasant ending awaits us as the story develops depressingly from the middle?

The final episode of an anime doesn’t always end with the happy ending viewers want. Some of them have a terrible ending. What kind of final episode was drawn?

“I’m There Now” “I’m There Now” is an original anime work created by Heitaro Daichi, who has worked on many comedy anime such as “Sexy Commando Gaiden Sugoi yo!! Masaru-san” and “Urayasu Tekkin Kazoku,” without any gags. All 13 episodes were broadcast on WOWOW from 1999 to 2000. One day, the main character, “Shu,” meets a girl named “Rara Ru” and is sent to the future 5 billion years.

The future he is sent to is a world where resources have dried up, and war has become a daily occurrence. Shuu then becomes embroiled in a fierce battle over Lara, who has the power to produce water at the expense of her own life. This work, which depicts many scenes of massacres and violence, ends sadly with no one feeling happy. At the end of the story, Lara succeeds in destroying the “Aerial Mobile Fortress Heliwood,” controlled by her enemy, the Mad King “Hamudo,” using her water power.

However, she overuses her power and disappears. Also, “Sarah,” who was mistaken for Lara and taken from the present day, is used as a comfort woman by the soldiers when it is discovered that she is mistaken for someone else. She ends up pregnant with a child whose father is unknown. For the sake of her child, she chooses not to return to her original world.

The protagonist, Shuu, manages to return to his original world, but the battle price is high, and the story ends without anyone being saved. The hopeless ending of this work has been praised online as a masterpiece that shocked many people, with comments such as “It’s so painful that I can’t even cry. I feel so sorry for Sarah that I can’t bear to watch it,” “It’s a top erotic, grotesque, violent work,” and “It’s a great work that depicts the battles and teaches the misery of war.” Akame ga Kill! Akame ga Kill! (original story by Takahiro, art by Tetsuya Tashiro), which was serialized in Monthly Gangan Joker (Square Enix) and was made into an anime in 2014.

This work depicts the story of a young swordsman named Tatsumi, who lives a poor life and meets a girl named Akame, who wields an enchanted sword and rebelling against a corrupt empire together with the assassin group she belongs to, Night Raid. As the story progresses to the end, the main characters die one after another. The popular character, Chelsea, is decapitated by her enemy, Kurome, and her head is displayed in a public square.

In addition, Tatsumi and heroine Myne, who is supposed to have survived the original work, die in original developments exclusive to the anime. The story ends with Akame, who survived, carrying the hopes of her fallen comrades and continuing to fight the enemy targeting her.

It is a heavy ending in which the battle continues without reward, even after many deaths. “I thought Tatsumi would come back to life by some kind of power… he disappeared along with Esdeath,” and “The story has been focused on the characters who died, so the ending with only a few survivors seems even sadder,” are some of the shocking developments that have made this anime memorable for many people.
