Kumamoto, where One Piece helped during the Kumamoto earthquake
On December 27, the “ONE PIECE EMOTION” opening ceremony was held at Grand Messe Kumamoto in Mashiki Town. Governor Kimura of Kumamoto Prefecture said, “After the Kumamoto earthquake, One Piece helped Kumamoto, and from now on, we would like to give back as a sacred place for One Piece.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on December 28 to commemorate the opening. This unique exhibition, organized by Toei Animation and TKU, is being held to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the TV anime broadcast of “ONE PIECE.”
Enjoy the world of Wano Country and Egghead.
Many people visited the venue on the 28th, the day the event started. In addition to nearly life-sized statues of the Straw Hat Crew, original animation drawings were lined up, and visitors enjoyed the world of One Piece, focusing on the Wano Country and Egghead arcs.
The animation drawings were lined up flowing at the venue, conveying Sanji’s dynamism. In addition, about 20,000 drawings were used in this episode, which depicts Zoro’s battle scene. Typically, one episode of an anime uses an average of 3,000 to 4,000 drawings, so using many drawings creates a sense of realism.
There was also a booth where visitors could listen to the characters’ famous scenes while watching the script. There was no background music, and visitors could enjoy the lines only with the voice actors’ voices. “ONE PIECE EMOTION” will be held at Grand Messe Kumamoto until January 13, 2025.
