Episode 16 “Starting Action” Preview and Synopsis
Episode 16, “Taking Action,” has been released with a synopsis and scene cuts! Twenty-five years have passed since the tragedy of Badeni, Okji, and Yolenta. The ethical corruption of mainstream church leaders has peaked, and resistance forces are rising in various places.

One of these factions, the “Heretics Liberation Front,” known for its radicalism, led by Schmidt, attacks inquisitions around the country and liberates heretics. One day, Schmidt is ordered by the head of the organization to attack a cathedral and seize a particular book. It contains words that suggest the “heliocentric theory.”

Comments from new cast and artists have arrived.
Yorushika (n-buna)’s comment: One day, I saw a snake with beautiful scales, so when writing a song about snakes, I suddenly felt an affinity with Chi. In the Bible, there is a famous composition of a man eating the fruit of knowledge and a snake tempting him, which can be interpreted as a metaphor for a simple desire for knowledge. From there, I wrote a song about a snake waking up from its sleep in the spring, crawling out, and learning about the world.

This song is also based on a passage from “Risi” by Yuan Zhen, a poet of the Tang Dynasty. Zeng Jing Cang Hai Dynasty Difficult Water Removes Wushan Not Is Meaning translates to “After knowing the ocean, I can’t be satisfied with just water. I can’t think of anything other than the clouds of Wushan as clouds.” The ocean and the clouds of Wushan are metaphors that Yuan Zhen uses to refer to his late wife. It is a simple and profound poem of love. Comment from Shimabukuro Miyuri (Duraka) Thoughts on reading the original work and script: I was fascinated by the heliocentric theory, trembling and feeling awe at the sight of them pursuing the truth even at the risk of their lives. – About the character of Duraka, Duraka has a good memory and thinking ability; above all, he is strong-willed and courageous.

After losing his father, he believes in “earning money” and does not believe in God itself. He is slightly different from the previous characters and has a vulgar side. – A word for fans: Duraka, who is not well-versed in any academic field, has taken on the baton of the heliocentric theory that has been passed down until now. How will she learn about the heliocentric theory, and how will she change through her conversations with people with different beliefs? Please pay attention.

Comment from Hino Satoshi (Schmidt): After reading the original work and script, I felt like witnessing a history we cannot see. I was overwhelmed by the realism and romance and was truly moved. It reminded me of the importance of constantly questioning, thinking, and facing the things we take for granted.

Schmidt is a character who is critical of materialistic thinking and believes in “nature worship,” which states that gods reside in natural phenomena. Although he may seem like an oddball at first glance, he has a philosophical view of life and death and can always make calm decisions.

A word for fans: This story has a grand and profound theme, and many people are fascinated by how people risked their lives to change history. I am one of them. I am happy to be a cast member in the anime adaptation of this fantastic original work. I hope you will enjoy the broadcast.
