“The Summer When Light Died” is a coming-of-age horror series that depicts the various mysterious incidents that occur around Yoshiki, an ordinary high school boy, as he lives with Hikaru, a ghostly being who mimics his childhood friend, Ido Hikaru.
Since its broadcast began on July 5th, the horror created by the visuals, sound, and story has attracted attention, and after the second episode was released, it ranked first in ABEMA’s “Today’s Top 10 Series” (Japan). It has since remained at the top of ABEMA’s weekly anime rankings for three consecutive weeks.
A behind-the-scenes making-of series has also begun. The first installment, “Horror Edition,” has been released on YouTube and features exclusive interviews with director Ryohei Takeshita and key staff members, as well as production materials.
Additionally, ABEMA will be streaming all episodes of the anime “The Summer the Light Died” for free until 9 pm on Saturday, August 23rd, including the latest episode.
