The third season of the TV anime “Re: ZERO − Starting Life in Another World (Re: ZERO),” based on the light novel from MF Bunko J (KADOKAWA), will begin airing on TOKYO MX and 21 other stations nationwide from October 2nd. After the trials of the “Sanctuary” depicted in the second season, Emilia, Natsuki, Subaru, and others will again face a harsh fate in the Watergate city of Pristella in the third season.
The third season will consist of 16 episodes, including the “Attack Arc” (8 episodes) and the “Counterattack Arc” (8 episodes). The first episode of the “Attack Arc” (episode 51), “Theatrical Malice,” will be broadcast as a 90-minute special.
“Re: Zero” is based on a light novel written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichiro Otsuka. The story is about a high school student, Subaru, who is summoned to another world and gains the ability to rewind time when he dies. The first season of the TV anime aired from April to September 2016, the first half of the second season from July to September 2020, and the second half from January to March 2021.
Episode 51, “Theatrical Malice,” takes place one year after the battle at the Sanctuary. Emilia’s camp is united, and Subaru is living a fulfilling life. However, a letter brings an end to their peaceful daily lives. Joshua and Mimi, who came as messengers for Anastasia, deliver an invitation to the watergate city of Pristella. There, they find a merchant with the magic stone Emilia was looking for as Puck’s new vessel. Subaru and his friends depart for Pristella, where they find a familiar face waiting for them.
