A movie that makes the audience cry is not necessarily good. However, ” Robot Dreams ” ( directed and written by Pablo Berger, released on November 8th) is an endearing, heartbreaking animation that is well worth watching. It is a story of friendship set in 1980s New York (where all the residents appear as non-human animals). No doubt, many people will be reminded of someone important to them. This is a gem of a film that has won numerous awards, including the Annie Awards for Best Independent Feature, known as the “Academy Awards of the animation world. ” It was also nominated for the Academy Awards in the best-animated feature film category.

The film is based on the graphic novel of the same name by American author Sarah Baron, published in 2007. Director Berger was born in Bilbao, Spain, and lives in Madrid. He has been highly praised for his live-action films, such as “Blancanieves.” He reread the original novel a few years ago and was so moved that he decided to turn it into an animated film.

The original novel is set somewhere in America. Still, the film is set in New York, where Berghel’s memories of the city, where he studied for a master’s degree at New York University’s Film School, are projected.

The story begins on the day Dog, who lives alone in an East Village apartment and feels lonely, sees a TV shopping commercial and orders a “friend robot.” He eagerly waits for the delivery and diligently assembles the kit that arrives, and when he gets it to work, it feels right.

The robot has a learning function that allows it to imitate the actions of people, or rather animals, around it. When I went out to the city with it, I was sometimes nervous because of its imitation, but it was far more exciting. We have the same natural sense and can share the music that fills the city.

We went to Central Park and roller-danced to the classic song “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire. It was so fun and exciting. I just loved it.
