I thought it was a youthful anime about a bowling club.
In the summer of 2025, various popular anime will be broadcast. Among them, let’s introduce three works that have shocking developments awaiting them at the outset. Each of them has the characteristics of “being possible because it is an original work” and “being more shocking than the original manga”.
Below are some shocking developments of “Turkey!”, “Hell Teacher Nube” and “Tacopi no Gensin” are mentioned. “Turkey!” The original anime “Turkey!” looked like “a youth anime about five high school girls in the bowling club” in the visuals and promotion before the first episode aired, but after the first episode aired with a shocking ending, the promotion and visuals have been promoting the “unexpected content”. It was a surprise that could only be achieved through original work.
I will not reveal the specific plot here, but the further shock is that “something” rolls in front of the high school girls at the beginning of the second episode. Furthermore, there was a development that clearly showed us that “bowling balls can become weapons (lethal weapons)”.
However, the five main characters’ personalities are well-drawn from the first episode, and the “foundation” of a youth story is well-established, such as the process in which differences in motivation for club activities lead to hostility. For those who plan to watch it, we recommend pressing the play button on episode 1 before viewing the synopsis or official website for episodes two and beyond.
“Hell Teacher Nube” “Hell Teacher Nube” (original story: Makura Sho, art: Okano Takeshi), which gained popularity in the 1990s and was also made into an anime, has been met with many voices of joy at its new anime adaptation in the Reiwa era. The original manga contains many scenes of fear that are spoken of as trauma, and this Reiwa version, which is broadcast late at night, also includes scenes of cruelty that are more powerful than the original.
The focus is on the speedy development of “Tamamo Kyosuke (CV: Morikawa Toshiyuki)”, who appears in episode 11 of the original, appearing in the middle of episode 1 and kidnapping the main character “Tatsuno Hiroshi (CV: Shiraishi Ryoko)” at the end. In the following episode 2, there was an original scene where Hiro’s head was caught between the hands of a giant clock, and he had a hallucination of rolling around.
In addition, the scene where Tamamo puts a “neck brace” on her head, removes the skull, and transforms into a “fox demon” is more shocking than the original, due to the detailed depiction and Hiro’s terrified expression. Not only is the story fast-paced, but the character designs and atmosphere differ from the old anime version; however, the respect for the original work can be felt, not just in the enthusiasm for the cruel depictions.
“Tacopi no Gensin” is the original work of the popular web anime “Tacopi no Gensin,” a manga by Taizan5 that was serialized in “Shonen Jump +” from 2021 to 2022. The cruel story, despite its cute illustrations, became a hot topic. In the first episode of the original work, a fourth-grade elementary school girl named “Kuze Shizuka” hangs herself in despair after being subjected to horrific bullying. It is only natural that the first episode of the anime begins with a caption stating, “This work contains some sensitive depictions that may involve life.” The anime version features a strong animation style that effectively reproduces the original’s touch. The scene where the child Shizuka’s limp corpse falls helplessly is particularly vivid.
The quietly despairing emotional expression of Reina Ueda, who plays Shizuka, the malicious acting of Yoshimi Kohara, who plays Marina Micazaka, a bully who also has a poor family environment, and the pure voice of Kurumi Mamiya, who plays the alien “Tacopee” who cannot understand the malice, all combine to make this first episode a heart-wrenching one.
Another impressive production, unique to video productions, was the use of the famous classical music “Spring” from Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” in the scene at the end of episode 2, when Shizuka is faced with a horrible situation and truly rejoices, saying, “It’s like magic!” This perfectly expressed the tragedy of a child rejoicing over a cruel event without understanding morality. “Tacopi’s Original Sin” has also been praised overseas, and the online database “IMDb” has a high score of 9.2 out of 10, which is one of the highest among all anime works. Although it has not been broadcast on terrestrial television, it is one of the most anticipated works this season.
