by The first broadcast date for the anime series “Osananajimi to wa Romantic Comedy Ni Nai” has been set for Monday, January 5, 2026, and the second main promotional video has been released. The opening theme by HoneyWorks, distribution information, and a Christmas illustration have also been released.
This is the latest childhood-friend romantic comedy by Miren Shinya, currently serialized in Magazine Pocket (Kodansha), and depicts a sweet, impatient, and unrequited love story between childhood friends.
The series will be broadcast sequentially on six TV Tokyo affiliates, AT-X, and BS Nippon TV, and will also be streamed online at d Anime Store and AnimeFesta. The second main trailer depicts the characters’ struggles between love and friendship, as their childhood friendship quietly blossoms into love, despite the relationship never having been thought to progress.
The opening theme song has been decided to be “Airaby▽”, a newly written song by the creator unit HoneyWorks. The song will be sung by the cast members who play the heroines in the work, “HoneyWorks meets Mizumoeshio, Kaido, Tsukimiru Na, Hinata Haru (CV: Kusumi Rin, Serizawa Yu, Hiratsuka Sae, Yamamoto Yuyuki)”. HoneyWorks commented on the song, saying, “It’s a song packed with cuteness and excitement”, and a snippet of the song can be heard in the second main PV that has been released.
Distribution information was also announced: the Anime Store and AnimeFesta will release the “On Air ver.” every Monday at 12:30 am starting January 5, 2026, and will exclusively stream the “Puchi Doki ver.”, which removes restrictions on some episodes. Distribution on other distribution services will begin sequentially from January 9.
Additionally, various campaigns and events will be held leading up to the broadcast. A gift campaign featuring original Christmas illustrations by Miren Shinya will be held, with framed photo illustrations and clear files available to win in a lottery, and wallpaper images distributed on December 24th and 25th. AT-X has also decided to broadcast a mini video project, “Young Love Cast’s Romantic Comedy Special,” featuring the cast after each episode of the anime.
