The anime “Disney Twisted Wonderland: The Animation” will begin streaming on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. “Twisted Wonderland Anime” Takes Over Ikebukuro! Click here to see photos. “Disney Twisted Wonderland: The Animation” is a dark fantasy anime featuring characters inspired by the charm of Disney villains.
The original game, “Disney Twisted Wonderland,” was conceived, written, and character designed by Yana Toboso, a manga artist known for “Black Butler.” The unique essence of Disney villains and the elaborate world set in a magic training school (Night Raven College) have generated a great deal of buzz.
The story of Season 1, “Episode of Heartslabyul,” begins when high school student Yuken one day wanders into Night Raven College, a prestigious magic training school with seven dormitories. Suddenly, Yuken finds himself living in another world, and visits the Heartslabyul dorms with Grimm, a monster he meets at school.
However, there, the dorm leader, Riddle, feared as the “Crimson Tyrant,” rules the dorm students under the Queen of Hearts’ regulations. Why has Riddle become such a tyrant who strictly enforces the rules? Their encounter with Yuken and his friends sets the destinies of the rule-bound dorm students in motion. Takahiro Natori serves as general director and series composition, and Makoto Katakai serves as director, with animation produced by Yumeta Company and Graphinica.
The cast includes Natsuki Hanae as Riddle Rosehearts, Seiichiro Yamashita as Ace Trappola, Chiaki Kobayashi as Deuce Spade, Ryota Suzuki as Trey Clover, Tatsuyuki Kobayashi as Kate Diamond, Yohei Azagami as Enman Yuuken, and Noriaki Sugiyama as Grimm. Episode 1, “Awakening the Stranger!” Synopsis: High school student Enman Yuuken is on his way home from club activities as usual when he suddenly encounters a black carriage. He suddenly finds himself summoned to another world, Twisted Wonderland.
The school principal, Dear Crowley, explains to Yuuken that he has been invited to Night Raven College, a school for training magicians, as a new student. However, Yuuken, who cannot use magic, is not convinced by this explanation and immediately tries to leave. However, at that moment, the monster Grimm suddenly appears, and the situation takes an unexpected turn.
The “Twisted Wonderland Anime Official FUN Site,” launched on October 24, has already generated significant buzz. In addition to information about the series, the site is packed with exclusive content, including a “Rose Meter” that increases with the number of social media posts, a “Queen of Hearts’ Law Quiz,” and an “Unreleased Gallery” with exclusive cuts from each episode. Furthermore, through November 2, the Ikebukuro area of Tokyo, a center of pop culture, is also being overtaken by public transportation advertising. Six large advertising displays within Ikebukuro Station are packed with features showcasing the series’ appeal from multiple angles, including signage featuring art of the seven main characters from Season 1, flags introducing “The Queen of Hearts’ Law,” and columns featuring the villains from the Disney film that inspired it.
Animate Ikebukuro Main Store also has an exhibition area that includes unreleased scenes from the special short anime “Twisted Wonderland Mini Theater,” which airs after the main anime. Some of these transit advertisements also feature mechanisms that link to a special website, creating an interactive experience that combines the real and the digital. Various measures will be rolled out in the future, so keep an eye out for the latest information along with the main anime.
