The anime “Gintama Maruchibirth Anime ‘3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei'” will begin airing on October 6. The key visual, latest promotional video, and opening and ending theme artists have been announced.

This information was announced at the “Gintama Maruchibirth Festival,” an event held today, August 16, as part of the “Gintama 20th Anniversary Project.” The poster visual features Ginpachi-sensei (aka Ginpachi Sakata) and his classmates from Class 3-Z gathered on a riverbank amidst falling cherry blossoms, along with the tagline “Gintama-style youth is here.” The opening theme will be “Sakurakaze” by Botchi Boromaru, and the ending theme will be “Underclass HERO” by LONGMAN.

The latest promotional video features snippets of each song. Comments from Botchi Boromaru and LONGMAN were also included. “Gintama Maru Chi-Birth Anime ‘Gintama: 3-Nen Z-Ginpachi-sensei'” is a spinoff of Hideaki Sorachi’s “Gintama,” based on Tomohito Osaki’s spinoff novel “Gintama: 3-Nen Z-Ginpachi-sensei.” The characters of “Gintama” move from Edo to a school setting, where they experience a slightly unusual youth.

Bocchi Boromaru’s Comment: When I heard about the role of Gintama Sensei, it reminded me of my days as a lonely student, obsessed with Gintama. It’s comical and incredibly entertaining, yet it has strong convictions and guides you through life. I remember vividly thinking, when I first read Gintama, that it was my manga. I wanted to grow up to be like Gin-san, and at the time, I was practically Shinpachi, and I was in love with Kagura. I learned music from the cool, rock theme songs, writing from Sorachi Sensei’s Q&A, and love from Gorilla. Having spent my youth like that, I was able to become an adult like Elizabeth successfully. I’m so glad. I’ve packed all of these feelings into the song, so please enjoy it!!!

LONGMAN’s comment: I’m honored to be involved in this spinoff of the beloved Gintama series, “3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi Sensei.” While joking around with all our might, this work’s unique worldview is profoundly moving. For the ending theme, I imagined a “slightly melancholic after-school moment.” It evokes the quiet of a classroom as the sun sets, the lingering memories of playful days, and the small steps toward tomorrow. It wasn’t all fun and games, but also the worries and pauses we had, reflecting on those days. Perhaps memories of school days seem all the more precious because we know we can never go back.

I aimed for a slightly sad yet hopeful sound, reflecting on Ginpachi Sensei, who seems endlessly carefree and unreliable, yet is warmer than anyone else. I hope these words, “We’ll go anywhere,” inspire hope that continues from that classroom into the future. We hope that “Underclass HERO” will gently resonate in your hearts like the after-school bell.
