by The annual GeGeGe Memorial event, held around November 30th, the anniversary of the death of manga artist Shigeru Mizuki, who passed away in 2015, will be held again this year in Chofu, the birthplace of Mizuki’s manga. In this place, Mizuki lived for over 50 years. Information on event merchandise and a special illustration of the GeGeGe Memorial 2025 film “The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe” has been released.
” The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe” event merchandise. Since 2016, GeGeGe Memorial has been held annually in Chofu City, with the cooperation of many parties, including Mizuki Productions and Toei Animation, at locations associated with Mizuki, to honor the achievements of Mizuki, the creator of numerous works such as “GeGeGe no Kitaro” and “Devilman.” This year marks the 10th anniversary of the event.
This year, “GeGeGe Memorial Day 2025” will be held from Tuesday, November 18th to Sunday, November 30th, 2025, featuring various events to promote Mizuki’s works, including screenings, talk shows, and stamp rallies. Original merchandise commemorating the event will also be released. The merchandise will include the main visual design for the event, as well as merchandise from seasons 1 through 6 of the “GeGeGe no Kitaro” anime series. An original illustration by Toko Yatabe, the character designer for the film “The Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe,” has also been released.
The illustration depicts Kitaro’s father and Mizuki, dressed in autumn attire, enjoying crab soup and a stamp rally at the GeGeGe Memorial Day, creating a unique illustration for “GeGeGe Memorial Day 2025.” Original merchandise featuring this illustration will also be on sale. The full lineup will be revealed at a later date on the “GeGeGe no Kitaro & Devil-kun ANIME PORTAL SITE.” Original event merchandise will be available for purchase at the GeGeGe Memorial 2025 Toei Animation Pop-Up Store and AEON Cinema Theaters Chofu during the event period.
