The fourth official interview for “Jujutsu Kaisen The Movie Compilation: Kaitama-Owari,” set for release on May 30th, features an interview with Kitani Tatsuya, who will be performing the theme song.
“Jujutsu Kaisen” is a manga by Gege Akutami, and the total number of copies of the series has exceeded 100 million. The first season of the TV anime, the movie “Jujutsu Kaisen 0 the Movie”, and the second season of the TV anime “Kaitama/Gyoku Ori/Shibuya Incident” all attracted a lot of attention. The production of the sequel, “Shimetsu Kaiyu,” has been decided, and excitement is growing.
In the interview, Kitani Tatsuya spoke extensively about the thoughts he put into the song and his impressions of the film. In addition, it was announced that the theme song “Ao no Sumika (Acoustic ver.)” will be available for download from May 30th, the release date of the movie compilation and that he will appear on TBS’s “CDTV Live! Live!” on Monday, June 2nd.
Official interview with theme song artist Kitani Tatsuya
It has been decided that “Ao no Sumika (Acoustic ver.)” will be the theme song for the “Theatrical Compilation” again. Please tell us how you feel about participating in this work again.
I think that they felt that “Ao no Sumika” was a good fit for “Jujutsu Kaisen: Kaitama-Gamaori,” and that’s why they chose me again, so I’m just happy. I think of “Ao no Sumika” as “Jujutsu Kaisen: Kaitama-Gamaori,” so I’m honored that they decided to leave it to me for the movie version as well.
“Ao no Sumika” also fits the worldview of the work, but this time, it’s an acoustic version, so I feel it’s a song that enhances the sadness of the work even more.
Since it is the opening theme for the anime, the song plays before the main story begins. Therefore, I didn’t want to make it a one-sided “sad song” or “refreshing song” that would hint at the direction of the story.
“Kaitama Tamaori” is a story that depicts a refreshing youth but also has some cruel developments. Since the structure involves Gojo Satoru reminiscing about a youthful time, I wanted the song to have a texture that is bright and refreshing yet also contains a slight sadness.
However, in this movie compilation, it plays as the theme song after the main story is over. Since it is a song that plays after knowing the ending, I rearranged it to be more sad.
