“Sherlock Hound ” is an animated work that is an adaptation of Conan Doyle’s classic mystery novel set in the foggy city of Baker Street in London. A dog-shaped detective, Holmes works with his assistant Watson to solve various problems. It is an action-adventure drama that depicts solving complex cases. A total of 26 episodes of the television series aired from 1984 to 1985.

The movie version is a selection of episodes directed by Miyazaki out of 26 episodes, and two movies were produced, each containing two episodes.

The first film, Sherlock Hound: The Blue Red Gyoku/The Undersea Treasure, was released in 1984 at the same time as Niagara of the Valley of the Wind. It was released before the TV series aired, so Wataru Shibata played Holmes. It is a different version from the TV broadcast, with Hiko in charge.
