Japanese animation (Anime) popularity has sky-rocketed over the past few years. Knowing the immense potential of growth in the anime industry, more and more western companies are investing in Anime.
Previously, Netflix announced that they would be expanding their anime catalog by producing original Anime. A few days ago, Funimation’s Sony group bought Crunchyroll for $1.175 billion US dollars.
Now, popular companies Cartoon Network and Warner Bros are teaming up to produce Anime. They have hired Jason DeMarco as the head of the project. Jason DeMarco has experience working in the anime industry as he is currently overseeing Adult Swims original anime projects like Fena: Pirate Princess, Uzumaki, and Blade Runner: Black Lotus.
DeMarco will develop anime series based on original and third-party anime properties. He will also work closely with Japanese studios, artists, and creators.
For the first Warner Bros anime project, DeMarco works as a creative executive on the Lord of the Rings Anime, the upcoming Anime animated by Japan’s Sola Entertainment.
