by The anime adaptation of “Tacopi no Gensin,” serialized on the manga app “Shonen Jump+” and whose shocking plot twists, including bullying and family issues, have sparked social media buzz, will be broadcast free of charge in its entirety on ABEMA.
The first episode will air on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 1:45 PM, followed by five episodes over five days until Monday, August 25. All episodes will be available for free viewing after the broadcast.
“Taizan5’s manga “Tacopi no Gensin” set a record for the highest number of views when it was serialized on “Shonen Jump+.” Despite being a two-volume manga, it has sold over 1.45 million copies and was ranked third in the “This Manga is Amazing! 2023” men’s edition. A six-episode anime adaptation will begin airing in June 2025, generating even more buzz.
The story begins when Tacopee, a Happy Planet alien, lands on Earth and meets Shizuka, a girl who never smiles. Tacopee uses the magical “Happy Gadgets” to bring back Shizuka’s smile, but the story also depicts the problems Shizuka faces at home and school. Also noteworthy are the star-studded voice cast, including Mamiya Kurumi, who voices Tacopee, as well as Ueda Reina (as Shizuka), Kohara Yoshimi (as Marina), and Nagase Anna (as Azuma).
