The official trailer and poster for “Gintama: The New Movie – Yoshiwara in Flames,” due for release on February 13, 2026, have been revealed. The theme song will be “Sanzen” by SUPER BEAVER, and it has also been announced that the original author, Hideaki Sorachi, will take on the role of “Super Advisor Gorilla.”

“Gintama” is based on the manga by Hideaki Sorachi, serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” (Shueisha). The comic series has sold over 73 million copies worldwide (including digital versions), and a TV anime adaptation of the spin-off novel “3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi Sensei” (original work by Hideaki Sorachi, author Tomohito Osaki) will begin airing in October 2025. “Gintama: The New Movie – Yoshiwara in Flames” is a brand-new film marking the finale of the 20th anniversary project. The latest film is set in Yoshiwara Shangri-La, a vast underground red-light district beyond the reach of the law.

The trailer showcases key characters, including Yoshiwara’s reigning courtesan, Hinowa; the young boy who believes her to be his “mother”; and Yoshiwara’s guardian, Tsukuyomi. We also see Housen, a mighty warrior among the Yato tribe. The video begins with Sakata Gintoki shouting, “Let’s get this party started!” while SUPER BEAVER’s theme song, “Sanzen,” plays.

The film also features Katsura Kotaro, who did not appear in this episode in the original manga, as well as members of the Shinsengumi, including Kondo Isao, Hijikata Toshiro, Okita Sougo, and Yamazaki Tai, building anticipation for the fierce battle.

The poster powerfully depicts Gintoki, Shinpachi, and Kagura brandishing wooden swords as if to cut through the darkness, with the burning Yoshiwara Shangri-La in the background. Behind them, Housen, Kamui, and Abuto are sporting fearless smiles. The Shinsengumi and Elizabeth, dressed as courtesans, also appear, creating a powerful image. It has also been revealed that Sorachi Hideaki will be participating in the film as the “Super Advisor Gorilla.”

While his exact role is unknown, the original author’s cooperation will surely add to the film’s excitement. Along with the information release, comments from SUPER BEAVER, original director Takamatsu Shinji, and second director Fujita Yoichi were also released. The second series of movie ticket cards featuring the poster visual will go on sale on December 21. The film “Gintama THE FINAL” will premiere on terrestrial television on TV Tokyo and other networks at midnight on January 2, 2014.

The film novelization will also be released on February 13, the same day as the film. In addition to pinups featuring the main visual and other images, the set will also include a “Special Large-Size Sticker” featuring an original illustration by Sorachi Hideaki.

The full comments are below. Theme song artist: SUPER BEAVER The feelings people have for others, and the reasons they want to be stubborn, for example, the background to the beliefs that remain deeply rooted in the carefree Gintama’s heart. I tried to put into song the innermost feelings of every person, which cannot be understood at a glance. I am honored to be involved in “Gintama: The New Movie – Yoshiwara Enjo.” I hope the song “Sanzen” can help liven up the film. [First “Gintama” director: Shinji Takamatsu] “Gintama” began as an obscure anime some 20 years ago, but despite being moved to a different time slot due to low viewership ratings, numerous complaints and criticism, and repeated cancellations and restarts, it has somehow become such a fine piece of content.

I have been watching “Gintama” through various roles, from director to supervisor to sound director, but this is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to see the new “Gintama” as an audience member. I can’t help but feel excited to see what kind of “New Gintama” they’ll show us. I’m looking forward to it! [Second Director of “Gintama”: Yoichi Fujita] Hasn’t it been about 16 years since the “Yoshiwara Burning Arc” of the TV series? Of course, there’s going to be a remake. Filming techniques have evolved dramatically since then, and the density required for animation has changed.

Also, apart from the title, Yoshiwara isn’t really on fire. I’m looking forward to seeing how Director Ando will power up that aspect. “Gintama THE FINAL” broadcast information TV Tokyo affiliates: January 2, 2026 (Friday) 24:45 ~ TV Wakayama: January 2, 2026 (Friday) 24:45 ~ Biwako Broadcasting: January 3, 2026 (Saturday) 15:00 ~ “New Movie Version Gintama – Yoshiwara Great Inferno -” Second Movie Ticket Card Release Information Release Date: December 21 (Sunday) 10:00 Release Location: Screening theaters and others Price: 1,600 yen (tax included) Movie Novelization “New Movie Version Gintama – Yoshiwara Great Inferno -” Release Information Title: “New Movie Version Gintama – Yoshiwara Great Inferno -” Original: Sorachi Hideaki Novel: Miyamoto Mirei Price: 1,100 yen (tax included) Release Date: February 13, 2026 (Friday) “New Movie Version Gintama – Yoshiwara Great Inferno -” Nationwide release: Friday, February 13, 2026 Introduction The wait is over!
