TV anime “Fragrant Flowers Bloom with Dignity” production information

“Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku” by Saka Mikami has been serialized on the official Weekly Shonen Magazine app “Magazine Pocket” since 2021. It is a heartwarming and pure youth school story that captures your heart with straightforward feelings.

The gentle and warm story stands out among boys’ manga magazines and has been a hot topic since its serialization began. The total number of copies published has exceeded 3.3 million (as of September 2024).

This popular work will be made into a long-awaited TV anime in 2025! Animation production is handled by CloverWorks, which has produced many hit works. A gem of a youth story will be vividly colored. ─Beyond the curtain. A world that will never have anything to do with me─ Chidori, a bottom-tier boys’ school where idiots gather, is hated by Kikyo Girls’ School, a prestigious girls’ school.

The curtains are always closed, and I have never seen the classrooms in the adjacent school buildings. Tsumugi Rintaro, who attends Chidori, is always judged as a scary person by his appearance and is shunned by others, so he gradually distances himself from them. One day, while helping out at his family’s cake shop, he meets a customer named Kaoruko who says, “I’ve never once thought of you as scary, Rintaro-kun.”

Although Rintaro is confused by the time he spends with Kaoruko, who treats him without prejudice, he begins to feel comfortable, but she is a student at Kikyo… It is a vivid, youthful school story woven by these two who are “close yet far apart.”

Opening theme: Kitani Tatsuya “Manazashi wa Hikari” To each other, they seem to be warm, like sunlight breaking through thick clouds. That’s the kind of relationship Rintaro and Kaoruko seemed to have. Their gazes fly over the walls they’ve built against the outside world with the innocence of a child. I expressed as directly as possible how happy and dear they were to me.

Ending theme: Shio Reira “Hana no Hi ni.” I wrote ” Hana no Hi ni ” as the ending theme for “Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku.” It was my first experience reading the original work and writing something new, and it evoked a range of emotions.

This story had the scent of pure, modest love. I was pleased to achieve the image I had envisioned in the choice of words and melody, and I was also happy when it was adopted.

The characters from this anime live in my songs, and I’m looking forward to seeing how they live out their lives as I continue to sing them. I hope that “Fragrant Flowers Bloom with Dignity” and “On a Special Day” will have the same fragrance for you.
