According to a significant new Google survey, Naruto is the most-watched children’s television show in over 83 countries—but not in the US.
Naruto, Pierrot’s renowned shonen animation, debuted on television in October 2002. Twenty years later, the series continues to dominate children’s television, ranking #1 in over 83 countries and surpassing such big-time rivals as Teletubbies and CoComelon.
The conclusions are based on a global Google data study carried out by The Toy Zone, a well-known website that reviews toys. A pre-compiled seed list of popular children’s television programs was analyzed by The Toy Zone to find the average volume of Google searches for each. It was found that Naruto is by far the most popular, dominating over 83 different nations. Interestingly, the US, where the majority of people watch Adventure Time on Cartoon Network, is not included in this number. CoComelon, the winner of second place on TV, is only #1 in 49 countries.
The popularity of Naruto anime is particularly high in Brazil, France, and Canada.
Although Naruto is particularly popular in South America, its appeal is not limited to any one continent or area; some instances of this include the following regions where the anime is the most-watched kids’ show:
- Canada
- Brazil
- France
- Algeria
- Egypt
- Chad
- Israel
- Mongolia
- Indonesia
- South Korea
Masashi Kishimoto’s popular manga of the same name served as the inspiration for Pierrot’s Naruto anime. The protagonist of the tale is Naruto Uzumaki, an orphan who aspires to be a strong ninja and, in the end, the Hokage (or village leader). But most of his fellow villagers hate and scorn him since he is also a living conduit for a deadly beast called the Nine-Tailed Fox. In the Naruto universe, ninjas use tremendous fighting skills by channeling a unique energy source known as chakra. Naruto joins forces with fellow graduates Sakura Haruno and Sasuke Uchiha to undertake missions under the command of renowned “Copy Ninja,” Kakashi Hatake, following his graduation from the ninja academy. Despite having a strong action focus, the series emphasizes the value of friendship, empathy, and atonement over a number of significant storylines. Pierrot adapted the subsequent arcs of the manga as the follow-up series Naruto Shippuden, which ran from February 2007 to March 2017.
The Only Anime Series to Rank on a New Kids’ TV Program Is Naruto Google Examining
Notably, Toy Zone’s study included references to only one anime franchise: Naruto. Based on the gathered information, the most watched children’s television program in Ecuador, Bolivia, Libya, and Poland is the popular Dragon Ball series by Toei Animation. Dragon Ball, a work of fiction written by the late Akira Toriyama, chronicles the exploits of Goku, an ardent fighter from space who continuously challenges Earth’s would-be invaders in an effort to get stronger. Since its 1986 debut, the anime has maintained its enduring appeal because to its deft blending of humor, action, and emotion. The most recent series adaption by Toei Animation, Dragon Ball Super, debuted in July 2015 and ran until March 2018. But the Dragon Ball Super manga is still ongoing, which could lead to more DBS seasons down the road.
VIZ Media offers both the original Naruto manga and its follow-up series, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, in English. You can watch the corresponding anime adaptations of Pierrot on Crunchyroll and Hulu.
