Gwangju Tourism Foundation is holding the ‘2021 K-POP Fan Art Contest’.
On the 3rd, the Gwangju Tourism Foundation announced that it would hold the ‘2021 K-POP Fan Art Contest’ to keep pace with the K-pop Hallyu craze, maintaining a solid status despite the Corona 19 situation.
Fanart is a collective term for works of art created for favorite artists. Within the fandom of K-pop artists, including BTS, fan art artists with unparalleled skills are actively working. Fanart sublimates artists’ appearances into other works of art and plays a huge role in strengthening the bond between artists and fans.
The Gwangju Tourism Foundation mentioned the meaning of holding a ‘fan art contest’ to create K-pop tourism content unique to Gwangju.
The contest will be held twice this year, and BTS was selected as the theme for the first meeting. Works can be done with individual or all 7 BTS members (RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook), and creative works such as drawings, illustrations, and crafts can be accepted.
Individuals, groups, and anyone can participate. The application period is from August 16 (Mon) to September 24 (Fri), and more details can be found on the website of the Gwangju Tourism Foundation.
A total of 50 points are selected, including one grand prize, first prize, excellence prize, encouragement prize, and participation prize. Prize money, certificates, and tourist souvenirs (Hope World Snowball) will be presented, and an opportunity to invite an exhibition and a Gwangju Familiar Tour will be given. In addition, the selected works will be displayed at all times in Fan Zone 3, the K-Pop Star Street, which will be completed in the future and will be introduced to Gwangju citizens and K-pop tourists.
Gwangju Metropolitan City completed the ‘Hope World Sculpture’ on the street of K-pop stars in Chungjang-ro using about 20,000 cheering messages written by j-hope fans worldwide in February. It was prepared to commemorate J-Hope from Gwangju, who mentioned his hometown through numerous songs and expressed his gratitude.
The ‘Hope World Sculpture’ engraved with J-Hope’s autographed message has become a specialty of Chungjang-ro, becoming the No.
The Gwangju Tourism Foundation hopes that K-pop fan art will be created as K-pop tourism content unique to Gwangju following the ‘Hope World Sculpture.’ We hope that many fans’ creative works of art will light up the street of stars.”
