It has been announced that the manga “Isekai Munchkin: The Fastest and Strongest Dungeon Conquest with 1 HP”, based on the original work by Shimizu Yuu, who is known for the famous light novels “Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance” and “Seiken Gakuin no Mahou Tsukai,” will be adapted into a TV anime.
The original work is an alternate-world reincarnation fantasy based on the worldview of a TRPG (table-talk role-playing game), and a teaser visual has been released featuring the main character, Kirihara Yukito, and his companion Charlotte, who travels with him in the alternate world. The visual is accompanied by the copy, “Swords, magic, and random numbers.” The anime will be directed by
The manga is being serialized on “Wednesday Sirius ” (Kodansha), written by Shimizu and illustrated by Aogiri Ryo. The title “Munchkin” refers to a TRPG player who makes full use of the rules and sometimes even intentionally exploits loopholes in them to play to his advantage.
Yukito Kirihara (Yukito), an ordinary high school student who loves TRPGs, is suddenly attacked by a monster from another world while playing TRPG with his beloved younger sister Sana and dies unjustly. He is then allowed to be reincarnated by Nephilim, the goddess of the other world (Everworld).
To find his precious sister in the other world, Yukito steals the World Master’s Guide from Nephilia and is reincarnated as a Munchkin, embarking on an adventure in the harsh other world. The latest 11th volume of the comic will be released on November 8th.
Shimizu commented, “I’m Shimizu Yu, the person in charge of the original story for ‘Isekai Munchkin.’ Congratulations on making it into anime!!! This work is packed with fun memories of the TRPGs I played as a student. I wish the dice gods great success, and may the gods of dice bless Yukito’s adventure!”
Aogiri said, “I had always dreamed that Isekai Munchkin would be made into an anime. Then my editor contacted me and said, ‘It’s been decided to be made into an anime,’ I was so surprised that I repeatedly said, ‘Seriously?’ I still remember that conversation that day (laughs). Just imagining how Yukito and the others will move, talk, and progress with their friends in the scenes I depicted in the manga makes me so excited! Much new information will be announced, so I look forward to it with everyone!”
Director Yokota commented, “I’m Yokota Mamoru, director of Munchkin. When I first heard about Munchkin, I thought, ‘Huh? The first production since the studio was founded, and I’m the director?’ Due to physical reasons, I told the president that I would be picked up and dropped off at the studio, and then a white-haired older man came in a wagon to summon me every day. I read the script with Shimizu-sensei and Aogiri-sensei and met with the staff.
That’s when my life as a work creator began in another world. I had the idea that I would ‘spend the rest of my life working on a production that would leave my name behind,’ so I had no choice but to give Munchkin my all! To everyone all over the world! Of course, I will also work on fascinating female characters, so please wait in seiza for a while!”
