At one point, the director of Solo Leveling coughed up blood from working so hard on the anime.
Certain anime programs go above and beyond to accomplish their goals. After all, creating a TV show is not an easy task, and the anime industry is renowned for its fierce competition. Employees need to put in their all in order to succeed, and Solo Leveling’s team accomplished just that. After all, the anime’s director recently revealed that he experienced a similar problem, and its main actor once vomited blood while performing.
The director of Solo Leveling, Shunsuke Nakashige, provided the confession. After the first season of Solo Leveling concluded, the executive took to social media to express gratitude to the audience. Nakashige made remarks on the popularity of the anime there, and they disclosed that they had been hospitalized last year after coughing up blood while at work.
“We appreciate you seeing Solo Leveling episode twelve. As the plot developed, there were obstacles with the artwork for this kind of project, but I believe the crew as a whole helped us get past them. I’ll try my best and sleep a lot because it appears like there will be a second season. I had to go to the hospital last year after throwing up blood,” Nakashige said.
As you may expect, there is never a situation in life where it’s advantageous to throw up blood. Blood should normally stay in your body where it belongs, but it appears that Nakashige’s stress at work reached a new level. Furthermore, it is well known that the director was not the only one affected by this condition.
In a prior interview, Nakashige disclosed that during the filming of Solo Leveling, the actor portraying Jinwoo had a bloody cough. Taito Ban used his voice so hard in the recording studio that he spat blood when recording several lines for the first part of season one. This level of commitment is as astounding as it is terrifying.
It seems that there are other people on Solo Leveling than Ban who can claim to have shed blood for the anime.
