Spread the love

The main cast’s costume visual was shown from the tryout performance of “Shrek the Musical,” which will be performed on August 15th. Spi and others who play the role of Shrek are wearing masks and actual costumes to reproduce the world of “Shrek.”

“Shrek” is a blockbuster adventure comedy movie produced in 2001 by DreamWorks, which has worked on numerous animated movies such as “Madagascar” and “Kung Fu Panda “and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film for the first time in history. Full of jokes and parodies, it depicts universal themes such as bonds with friends, true love, and facing difficulties.

Based on the movie, this work was made into a musical on Broadway in 2008 and was very well received, it landed in Japan for the first time, and the cast was selected by audition. The monster Shrek who lives on the bank of a remote forest swamp is played by spi, the heroine Fiona is played by Eri Fukuda, Junya Yoshida plays Donkey, and Lord Farquaad is played by Yohei Izumimi.

Wearing a realistic Shrek mask, spi said, “What in the world is going to happen? I always felt that the difficulty was serious. Still, after seeing the mold and the production process, I exchanged detailed opinions with the staff, and the final I think that the best thing has been completed,” he exudes confidence.

The cast members’ comments are as follows. The “Shrek the Musical” tryout performance will be held at Tokyo Tatemono Brillia HALL from August 15th to 28th (preview on 15th).

Shrek /spi What’s going on with
Shrek’s mask? I always felt that it was tough, but after seeing the mold making and the production process, I exchanged detailed opinions with the staff, and in the end, I think the best one was completed! I sang while wearing a mask for the first time today, but my voice echoes in my skull. I balance it with bone conduction, but my voice reverberates inside the cover. But I think I can clear it with repeated practice. I think I’ll be able to show you another growth, so please look forward to it. I can’t see myself wearing a mask, so I’m jealous of the audience who can (laughs)
. I want the children to encounter Shrek among the many fairy tales and picture books. It would be nice if it could be a hint of life that “You don’t have to be bound by the frame.”

Fiona/ Eri Fukuda
I’m so happy and excited, “I never thought I’d be wearing a princess costume!” It was a dream come true (laughs). In such a beautiful princess costume, on stage, this and that… I wonder what will happen. Please look forward to it (lol). I saw the visuals of
Shrek, Donkey, and Lord Farquaad looked like a “toy box” and were great. I’m sure the children who come to the theater will be delighted!

Donkey/ Junya
Yoshida, This is the first time I’ve become something other than human. I was surprised that “animals are like this!?!” I think I can do my best with ears and hooves, fur, and tail. I can immerse myself in the role. The heat during the dragon fight scene can be dangerous. It’s surprisingly easy to move, but first, I want to get used to the “car height” of my ears (laughs), and I’d like to study the ecology of donkeys.

I hope that the visitors will be able to see a side of me that no one has ever seen before!

Sir Farquaad/Yohei Izumimi As you can see, I’m pretty short
(laughs).

I don’t remember… (laughs)
Right now, a new scene is unfolding in front of my eyes. This work has a message that conveys the “importance” of “essence” rather than “appearance.” Please come to the theater with your “important person.”
