“Megumi Daigo,” which was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Sunday” (published by Shogakukan) from 1995 to 1999, is a legendary story about Daigo Asahina, a novice firefighter who protects people’s lives and livelihoods at the scene of fires and disasters with his friends.
A story that grows into a firefighter. In 1996, he won the Shogakukan Manga Award, and in 1998, he won the Manga Category Excellence Award at the 2nd Japan Media Arts Festival. It was also made into a drama in 2004.
This work, ” Megumi no Daigo Savior’s Orange,” is being serialized in “Monthly Shonen Magazine” (published by Kodansha) as a “sequel that inherits the soul” of “Megumi Daigo.” Three young firefighters, Daigo Toake, Shun Onoda, and Yuki Nakamura, aim to become the elite unit of the firefighting organization, the “Special Rescue Team,” commonly known as “Orange.”
The struggle and growth of Volume 6 were released on December 15th, and the total circulation of the series, including the previous work “Megumi no Daigo,” has exceeded 14 million copies.

I’ve always liked the original manga since the previous work, “Megumi no Daigo,” so when I received an offer to make a new anime, I was pleased and accepted without hesitation.
In adapting the anime, all of the disasters depicted in the original work could have happened in real life. Instead, I want to powerfully show the passionate hearts of Yuki and other rescue workers.
