The most shocking episode was episode 9, in which classmate Shiratori Aira (voiced by Sakura Ayane), who has awakened to her special powers, fights against the aalienSerpo (voiced by Nakai Kazuya) and the mantis shrimp Dover Demon (voiced by Seki Tomokazu). In contrast, Okarun, whose clothes have been torn by the Serpo, fights while hiding his crotch.
In the second half, when Tessie’s appearance floods the school, Momo and Aira, in their underwear, ride on Okarun’s back like a banana boat. The most extreme episode was episode 8, “Desperate Death,” in which Kei commits seppuku for specific reasons and continues playing mahjong while bleeding. When Kei collapses, the boss of a yakuza organization, Takatsu Noriyuki (voiced by Koyama Tsuyoshi), pours alcohol on his wound and staples it, providing a drastic treatment. Although the wound with his protruding organs and the stapler scene were blurred out, Kei’s agonized voice spoke volumes.
This may be shocking for those who want to enjoy mahjong matches. “Re: ZERO -Starting Life in Another World—3rd Season” (original work: Nagatsuki Tappei), known for its many traumatic scenes, attracted viewers’ attention with its depressing developments, which were no less sad than those of the first and second seasons.
This work depicts the struggles of “Natsuki Subaru (CV: Kobayashi Yusuke),” who was summoned to another world to protect the people he cares about with the power of “Return by Death (Time Leap).” The episode that was said to be particularly hopeless this season was the episode of “Capella Emeralda Lugnica (CV: Yuki Aoi),” the Archbishop of the Witch Cult in charge of “Lust,” who appeared in episode 5 “Muddy Current.”
Capella has the power of “Mutation and Transformation” to change the appearance of herself and others.
