‘TAAF2025’ Competition Screening Schedule Announced! The first wave of tickets is now on sale

The international animation film festival “Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2025 (TAAF2025)” will be held in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, from March 7 to 10, 2025. The screening schedule for all 30 feature and short films in the competition category has been decided, and the first round of tickets went on sale at 14:00 on January 23. In addition, a unique program and an animation workshop for children were also announced.

“TAAF” is an international animation film festival that will be held for the 12th time in 2025. The “Competition Category” is for animation works from around the world that have not been screened in Japan, the “Anime of the Year Category” is for animation works released in Japan, and the “Anime Merit Category” honors people who have contributed to the animation industry and conveys the history, technology, and way of life of our predecessors.

In addition, the festival will hold screenings of invited works, symposiums, and workshops for children. The festival’s purpose is to discover and develop new talent, contribute to the promotion of animation culture and industry, and promote the appeal of Tokyo, thereby contributing to the promotion of tourism in Tokyo. With the motto of “Tokyo will become the hub of animation,” the festival aims to promote interaction with animation lovers worldwide by screening high-quality and original works from around the world in Tokyo. It provides creators and audiences with inspiration and excitement and uses that inspiration and excitement to send a new wave of animation from Tokyo to the world.

The screening schedule for the four feature films and 26 short films (three slots) nominated for the competition category and the student award-winning works has been decided, and tickets are now on sale. On March 10, the Grand Prix winner selected from these feature films and short films will be screened.

In addition, as a unique program, it has been revealed that “Flow,” a hotly-anticipated work by Latvian creator Gints Zilbalodis, which won the 2025 Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Film, will be screened at “TAAF” ahead of its nationwide theatrical release on March 14.

Additionally, it was revealed that the popular annual animation workshops for children, “Anime Aquarium” and “Let’s Make an Animation,” will be held again this year. To commemorate their completion, works produced at these workshops will be screened on the 1st-floor STAGE of “WACCA Ikebukuro.”
