“Anne Shirley,” scheduled to start broadcasting on NHK Educational TV in April, is based on Montgomery’s novel “Anne of Green Gables” and translated by Muraoka Hanako. The anime will depict the process of the protagonist Anne growing from a girl to a woman, divided into three pillars: “The bond between Anne, Marilla, and Matthew, a new family,” “The friendship between Anne and Diana,” and “The romance between Anne and Gilbert,” and will be produced in 24 episodes. Answer Studio will create the animation. Comments from Honoka Inoue (role of Anne Shirley) Thoughts on being cast in “Anne Shirley” I loved the world of “Anne of Green Gables” since I was a child, so I thought that I wanted to play Anne from the time of the audition! But I never thought it would become a reality! I wondered if it was a dream. It was a joy that cannot be expressed in words! At the same time, there was a lot of anxiety and pressure because it is an excellent title with a long history. To borrow Anne’s words, “Isn’t it wonderful that there is so much to discover from now on?” These words have been an excellent support for me.
I am very excited and looking forward to seeing the scenery through Anne from now on! Message to the viewers: I will put all my heart and soul into the performance of Anne Shirley. I hope you will enjoy the incredible images and music! Nakamura Aya (role of Marilla Cuthbert) Thoughts on being cast in “Anne Shirley”: A timeless masterpiece! I am truly honored to be able to play the role of Marilla Cuthbert, a woman I have always wanted to play in a work that is loved all over the world! Message to the viewers: I hope those who know Anne and those who don’t will enjoy the world of Anne! Matsumoto Yasunori (role of Matthew Cuthbert) Comments Thoughts on being cast in “Anne Shirley”: I couldn’t believe I would be in a classic anime.
This is the first time I’ve played this type of role, so I’m excited and thrilled. Creating a message for the viewers is hard, but it becomes fun on set. I’m sure that will be reflected in the work, so I hope everyone watching it, along with Anne and the others, will be excited. Thank you. Miyase Naoya (Gilbert Blythe) Comments Thoughts on being cast in “Anne Shirley” I am pleased to be involved in this work, which is based on the famous novel “Anne of Green Gables.” When I decided to appear, I felt that “this will be one of the special works for me.” I felt a sense of responsibility. Message to viewers: In every episode, the characters’ words will make you stop and think! This is the kind of work it is.
It is full of things you realize. After all, you are an adult, and things you can feel because you are pure! I hope you will watch it. Thank you very much! Miyamoto Yume (Diana Burley) Comments Thoughts on being cast in “Anne Shirley” Ever since I auditioned, I have always wanted to be involved in Anne’s time, so I am thrilled to share Diana’s feelings with her. Message to viewers: I am Miyamoto Yume, the voice of Diana Burley! I am delighted to be involved in a work everyone has loved for so long. There are few opportunities to age in detail in a play, from a girl to a woman, so I would like to slowly and carefully become friends with Diana and Anne! I will play the role with care. Thank you! “Diana Burley♪ Anne Shirley♪” Comments from Kawamata Hiroshi (Director) How I felt when it was decided that “Anne Shirley” would be animated When I first heard about it, I was honestly surprised. I was thrilled because it is a title I like, but since it is a work loved by people worldwide, I felt more pressure than excitement or joy. Thoughts and messages I want to convey in the work Since there have been many works in the past, such as anime, live-action films, and stage plays, I think everyone has their image of Anne Shirley.
