“The Apothecary Diaries” is an anime based on the novel of the same name by Hinata Natsu. It is set in the imperial harem and is a mystery-solving entertainment story in which Nekoneko, a young pharmacist who has become a “poison taster,” uses her knowledge of poisons and medicines to solve various complex cases that occur in the palace one after another.
It has also been adapted into a manga in two monthly magazines, “Big Gangan” (Square Enix) and “Sunday GX ” (Shogakukan), with a total circulation of over 40 million copies. The TV anime began airing in October 2023 for two consecutive seasons. They gained popularity for their mystery drama starring Nekoneko, a girl with an unparalleled love of poison, and the comical interactions between Nekoneko and the handsome harem manager, Jinshi, which made it number one on X Trends. The second season, which began airing in January 2025, also saw great excitement.
All episodes of “The Apothecary Diaries” will be broadcast free of charge for two consecutive weeks from August 15 (Friday) to 17th (Sunday), and the following week from August 24 (Sunday) to 26th (Tuesday), with all 48 episodes from seasons 1 to 2 being broadcast free of charge. The series will also be available for free streaming for one week after the broadcast.
